"Cute?" She blinked, clearly surprised, and blushed slightly. "Er, anyway, are you hungry? You haven't eaten anything this morning."
-
"Just a little cute." He shrugged. "I usually eat once a day, so I guess I could. You should eat something, shouldn't you? Don't humans eat multiple times a day?"
-
Ella sighed and shook her head. "I'm not exactly drowning in cash at the moment, so I try not to eat excessively. I'm not hungry anyway." She shrugged and stood up to grab him another pack of meat.
-
"Then why are you buying me food? I can hunt, you know." He flopped back against the arm of the couch and turned his head to watch her walk into the kitchen.
-
"Actually I didn't know." She said, handing him the package. "But it's okay, this way you don't have to go through any trouble for a meal."
-
"It's not trouble, trust me." He took it, started to open it, and then remembered that he was sitting on her couch. "I should probably eat this elsewhere."
-
"Oh, right." She trailed into the kitchen and motioned him to follow.
-
He lazily stood and brought the package with him. Once they were in the kitchen, he opened it up and started to drain the piece.
-
Ella watched him, intrigued by the way he drained the meat. She realized she was staring and blinked, glancing away. It was interesting to her. Everything he did was fascinating to her.
-
He didn't seem to notice her staring. After he finished, he washed off his hands and threw the meat and package away.
-
Ella's phone rang and she picked it up. "Hello?...yeah. Oh, okay...right...bye." She hung up and glanced at Rory. "My parents are on their way. You should go..."
-
He nodded, and headed for the door. "See you later, Ella."
-
She reached out and grabbed his wrist. "Wait," she looked almost panicked. "You'll really come back this time?"
-
"Uh, you know what? Here." He reached into his back pocket and pulled out the only weapon he carried, the same stake from ten years before. "Now I have to come back, no matter what. You might not want your parents to see that."
Before she could respond, he was out the door and on his way down the hallway. -
Ella looked down at the stake and hurriedly shoved it under one of the couch cushions, just as her parents walked through the door. She greeted them both and went into her bedroom, starting to unpack some of her stuff. Her parents started to help unpack as well.
