"Even if I explained to them that I was your imaginary friend who hasn't aged at all?" he asked, smiling a bit.

She laughed lightly. "I doubt he'd believe you. Even with the fangs..." She shook her head. "My dad and the supernatural never did get along."

That really caught his interest. "Wait, what? What's he familiar with?"

Ella shrugged. "Nothing really that I know of. My mom's a real conspiracy theorist, all about aliens and vampires and things. My dad always hated all of it." She looked at him. "Sorry if I got your hopes up..."

"It's fine." Rory shrugged. "You know what I like about humans?"

Ella glanced at him curiously. "What's that?"

"In ten years, you can completely change. You start out as a brave little kid, a decade goes by, and then, well... you." He grinned. "It's fantastic."

She smiled. "Well...thanks. Although does this mean you don't think I'm brave anymore?" She asked, raising an eyebrow and grinning teasingly.

"No, I still think you're brave. For example, if I were to..." Rory leaned over, sniffing at her collarbone and throat again. He paused at the side of the base of her neck, and opened his mouth in preparation to bite.

Ella fought off the urge to scream and push him away, but couldn't help stiffening up a bit. She told herself to relax. "I know you wouldn't really bite me." She said, forcing her voice to stay steady.

"Really?" he asked, reaching over to hold her in place. He started to close his mouth on her neck, but pulled away before he could puncture her skin. "I knew you were still brave," he said as he sat up and let go of her.

Ella scooted back a little. "Right. Told you so." She said, rubbing her neck.

"I'll try not to do that again," he muttered. "Even though your reaction is kind of funny."

She crossed her arms and huffed. "It's not that funny." She mumbled.

"A little funny. In a cute way." Rory smiled at the human.
