She nodded. "Yeah. I guess ten years isn't so long for you then." She said, leading the way back into the apartment. She put the shopping bag in the fridge.
-
"Not really, no. Fifteen years would've been a good time to check up on you otherwise, I think. That's probably when I would've showed up." He sighed. "So what now?"
-
She looked at him, a little pleased to hear that he had been planning to show up again. She jumped onto the couch and stretched out. "I dunno. You said you had to teach me to fight...?"
-
He sat at the end of the couch she wasn't using, and shrugged. "I should, yeah. But I'm not sure what to teach you yet."
-
"Oh," She rolled onto her back and gazed at him upside-down. "Then I dunno. What do you want to do?"
-
He thought about it for a minute, then looked back at her. "I want to hear more about you."
-
Ella blinked, surprised. "Okay...ask away." She sat up and scooted next to him.
-
"What's happened since then? Did you run into any more of those creatures? What's it like to be human? I don't know, just talk about anything I guess."
-
"Well, after you left I had a bit of a fight with my parents. I um, I was trying to convince them you were real." She said, blushing lightly. "I never did see another one of those...things. And being human..." She shrugged. "I guess, compared to being a vampire, it's different. I mean I can't read minds. I can't run super fast and I don't have anything against garlic, except maybe the smell." She shrugged again. "Nothing too exciting's happened since you left, except that I got this apartment. Yesterday was actually my first night here."
-
He smiled. "Definitely no garlic in this apartment then, I'm guessing? Why were you back with your parents last night if you live here?"
-
She grinned and shook her head. "Nope, no garlic." When he asked about her parents she frowned slightly. "They worry. They don't think I can take care of myself."
-
"Sounds kind of like the way vampires treat their kids. I'm 327 and still live at home." He paused, realizing that no one was really at home at the moment. "Or, well... whatever."
-
She nodded. "That's a long time at home...Actually my parents will probably be over to help unpack." Her eyes widened. "They can't see you. They would totally flip out." She groaned. "If they thought I already had a boy living with me..."
-
It took him a while to completely grasp what she was implying. "Oh. Don't worry, I'll be fine leaving while they're here."
-
She blushed lightly. "Yeah, that's probably best. Sorry, I just...my dad would probably kill you."
