"I couldn't!" She protested. "I didn't realize it then, but I could've died if you hadn't saved me." She said, still frowning slightly.
-
"Yeah, you would've. I never figured out what those things were, by the way. That was the last one I encountered. I'd been hunting them down for about thirty years before that. They were always after little kids." Rory appeared to reminisce for a moment before speaking again. "How many people did you tell about me? And how many believed you?"
-
Ella shivered slightly at his bluntness, although she appreciated his honesty on the situation. She would've died, that was a fact. "I tried to convince me parents, but they never believed me." She shook her head slightly. "I never told anyone else."
-
"You weren't afraid though, at all. Even when a stranger snuck in, murdered a monster, and went on to drink blood from raw meat in your kitchen. Strange, brave little kid. Thanks for not telling anyone else."
-
She nodded and laughed softly. "Yeah, I was a pretty weird little kid." She stepped back over to the door. "Want me to go get the food now?"
-
"Good weird, though." Rory shrugged. "If you want. Do you want me to come with you?"
-
She shrugged and mimicked him. "If you want. It'll probably be more interesting that hanging around here." She said with a slight grin, opening the door and hesitating to see whether or not he would follow.
-
He stood and followed her, shutting the door quietly behind him. "Thanks for this, by the way."
-
She glanced at him, looking a little confused. "For what?" She asked curiously. She led the way out of the building and out into the street, heading for the grocery store.
-
"Buying me food, helping me out... you know. This." He walked alongside her on the sidewalk.
-
Ah sorry I disappeared last night! I fell asleep...)
Ella smiled softly and kept walking. "Oh, that's nothing. You just needed help is all. It would be wrong of me to turn you away. Besides," she grinned. "I'm curious about you. You're the first vampire I've ever met." She laughed lightly. -
"Curious?" he asked, smirking. "I'm a bit curious about you, too. Vampires generally don't spend time with humans, contrary to popular belief."
-
Ella blinked, a little surprised. "Oh. Well you don't seem to much different than the average human to me. I mean you're ice cold and you drink blood, but other than that you seem pretty normal." She reached the store and stepped through the sliding doors. It was early, so there weren't many people shopping.
-
"Hold onto to that idea." He stopped, watching a middle-aged man at a checkout counter. "Do you know what he's thinking?"
-
Ella glanced at the man and then back at Rory. "How should I know what he's thinking?" She looked at the man again. "Except maybe that those strawberries are way overpriced." She said dryly.
