"Look, if you're really that I'll worried I'll stay the night at the house. Then tomorrow I can go and unpack." Her mother agreed all-too-enthusiastically. She was seated on their bed at the house, with Ella's father sitting next to her. Neither of them heard the lock being picked. Back at the apartment Ella sighed. "I'll be over in a bit." With that she hung up and groaned exasperatedly. She quickly out the food in the fridge and walked out of the building for the second time.

okay so i guess i should put a thing
abilities as a vampire: somewhat faster than humans, advanced hearing, advanced smelling, mind reading (as of recently), advanced vision
He could hear the humans in their room, faintly, but paid no attention to them as he slowly pushed the door open and stepped inside. The entire kitchen was dark, and it took his eyes a few minutes to adjust. He padded across the floor, searching the counters for something that could help him. -
Okie, coolio~!
Ella arrived at the house in a few minutes and walked up the steps. She considered knocking since it technically was no longer her house, but eventually decided against it and pushed the door opened. She stepped inside and blinked, her eyes taking a moment to adjust to the sudden darkness. -
He heard the front door open, and crept toward the kitchen door to see who had come inside. The human woman looked familiar, but he wasn't exactly sure why. Wait, was she the little girl? She couldn't be! The little girl was, well, a little girl!
-
Ella brushed a strand of dark hair out of her face and glanced around, closing the door behind her. Her eyes landed on the figure in the darkness and she stepped forward. She looked at him closely and her eyes widened in disbelief. "...Rory?" She leaned forward and stared at him. He looked exactly as he had the last time she'd seen him.
-
His eyebrows knitted together for a moment before he lifted a finger to his lips. It had to be her! She recognized him. He ducked back into the kitchen and tried to figure out how long it'd been since the evening they met. Ten years, he figured. Time got away from him easily.
-
Ella frowned and followed him into the kitchen. "Why are you here? How do you look exactly the same?" She looked almost frightened, again taking in his fangs and pale skin. "You...you're not human...are you?" She asked in a soft voice.
-
He sighed, and replied in a hushed voice. "Uh... no, I'm not. Why are you so old? Well, not old, but... you know." He circled her, trying to face the fact that humans aged much more quickly than he did. "Well, I guess ten years is enough time for a little human kid to grow up. It was ten years, right?"
-
Ella crossed her arms. "Yeah, ten years. But I'm only nineteen." She replied defensively. "What are you then, if you're not a person? And what are you doing here? It's been so long..." She trailed off, still using a hushed voice. She heard her parents talking upstairs and didn't want them to come down. Some part of her almost felt protective over him, like he was someone she didn't want anyone else to see. Especially if he wasn't human.
-
"Hey... I am a person," he said, his words reflecting how offended he was. "Just not human. Can we... uh?" He gestured to the door.
-
Ella frowned. "Right. Sorry." She nodded and stepped outside. "We can go to my apartment. Just give me one minute." She called her mother and told her the change of plans, and that she would spend the night at the apartment after all. She hung up and started walking, motioning for Rory to follow. "So...not human...?"
-
He followed her out and down the street. "You have an apartment now," he murmured to himself. "I'm... no. A vampire, actually."
-
She stared at him with wide eyes again. "A...vampire?" She fell silent for a moment, walking quietly. "I guess that makes sense." She murmured. Without warning she reached and took his hand. "Just like I remember. Ice cold." She let go of his hand and nodded. "So why are you here?"
-
The warmth of her hand surprised Rory. He sighed. "Uh... my family was kidnapped."
-
"Kidnapped?!" She squeaked. "That's awful...I'm sorry." She felt a wave of sympathy towards him and frowned. She stopped walking when they reached the building.
