He didn't think much of the little girl, but focused instead on the attack. He didn't know that the creatures could mimic human voices. That was impressive.

Do you wanna time-skip to when she's nineteen now?)
About an hour later Ella was shaken awake by her father. "Ella, why did you throw out one of my steaks? That was going to be our dinner tomorrow!" Ella blinked blearily and rubbed the sleep from her eyes. "It wasn't me, it was Rory..." "Rory? Who's Rory?" She sat up and sighed. "My new friend. He came while you and Mommy were gone." Her father narrowed his eyes. "This isn't a joke, Ella. There is no such person as Rory." She hopped to her feet. "He is real! He is!" -
sure
He spent the rest of the night analyzing the attack, then eventually went home. It didn't even occur to him that Ella would tell her parents about him. -
"You're sure you'll be alright?" Ella sighed at her fussing mother. "Mom, I'll be fine. I'm nineteen now." The dark-haired girl was spending her first night in her new apartment and struggling to convince her parents that she would survive. Her mother sighed. "You're all grown up..." Ella laughed lightly. "It seems like just yesterday you were rambling on about all your imaginary friends. Remember Rory?" Ella hesitated, but decided not to pursue the issue. She still held a faint memory of the man from that night, but knew her parents would never believe her. "Right," She replied with a small smile.

He sat against the building, watching people go by. Some had mistaken him for being homeless, due to his filthy appearance and exhausted expression. He gently tugged at the sleeves on the coat he was wearing, trying to cover the healing wounds on his arms. It'd been about a week since the entire clan was captured, and four days since he escaped. He hadn't slept at all in that time, and hadn't eaten anything, either. The sun, which would probably start to set in twenty or thirty minutes, only made his skin tingle. Since he'd been a vampire his entire life, the sunlight didn't cause him any pain.
-
"Okay, that's the last box." Her father said, setting the box of Ella's things on top of the pile accumulating in the small living room. She smiled and nodded. "Thanks Dad." Her mother gave her a brief yet nearly-suffocating hug. "Okay, Bye Mom." She hugged her back before pulling away and watch the two of them leave the apartment. She sighed and collapsed onto her couch. The sun hadn't set yet but she was pretty tired.
-
His mind had been racing over the past four days that he'd been alone, though now, his thoughts were only a slow trickle. He needed somewhere to sleep, and something that he could actually eat. At the moment, he couldn't really think of much else. The humans passing him all smelled unfamiliar, carrying the olfactory stories of different people and places. Rory sighed and leaned his head back, staring up at the darkening sky.
-
With a small sigh she pulled herself up off the couch and sighed again. "First things first...food." She said to herself with a slight nod. Her fridge was empty and she was starving. She grabbed her purse and headed away from the apartment building, towards the shops. They weren't too far, so it was a quick walk for her.
-
He eventually stood up and started walking along with the humans, who were starting to grow more sparse on the street. He stopped when he smelled something vaguely familiar, and glanced around. He wasn't sure why, but it was coming from a vehicle parked across the street. A man and a woman, both of who seemed to look a bit older, were getting into it. He darted across the street before they could drive away, but stepped behind another car so it didn't look like he was following them.
-
Ella stifled a yawn as she reached the market. She quickly picked up enough food to last the week, including a few steaks that made her smile slightly. She payed for the food and stepped back out onto the street, heading back towards her apartment.
-
He couldn't figure out exactly where he recognized the scent from, but followed the car stealthily as it drove. Rory figured the car would be more likely to lead him to assistance than any of the people on the street.
-
Ella continued towards the apartment. The sun was just beginning to set, but it was still beating down and making the whole day warm. Enjoying the nice weather she walked slowly, her purse in one arm and her grocery bag in the other. Her thoughts drifted to Rory as she walked. She had only seen him that one night, maybe it had just been her imagination. But she'd hugged him, touched him, she remembers how cold he felt. It had to have happened...
-
Fortunately, the speed stereotype was mostly true for vampires, so he was able to keep up pretty well. It only took the car fifteen minutes or so to reach a familiar house. He waited outside as the humans went inside, and waited until it looked like he could get in as well. Rory wondered, for a moment, why the girl wasn't with her parents. She was only a kid, after all.
-
She had only just stepped into the apartment when the phone rang. She picked it up and sighed heavily, listening to the barrage of questions her overbearing mother was firing at her over the phone. "Mom, relax. It's been twenty minutes." She said with a slight laugh.

He figured that since none of the lights were on in the kitchen or living room, he could sneak in through one of those. He settled at the back door, which went in through the kitchen, and started to pick the lock.
