He shrugged. "It happens." Rory turned his head up to the height of the building, surprised that so many humans could live in the same place, probably without communicating to each other much. "I'll explain the rest to you in the morning, because I think I need your help."
-
Ella led him into the building and opened her apartment door, holding it for him to walk in. "Help? What could I do to help?" She asked curiously and a little worriedly.
-
"Just be human." He smiled at her, stepped inside, and thanked her. "By the way.... do you happen to have any steak?"
-
Ella was a little confused, but shook it off. She stepped into the small kitchen and grinned. "Lucky for you I just went shopping." She pulled out two steaks. They were wrapped in plastic and set on styrofoam trays, just like the one he'd drained ten years ago.
Might poof, sorry if I do!) -
He grinned at her, and took one. "Thanks. I haven't eaten in days." He started to open the package. "I'm so hungry I could drain you, probably." He didn't really think about whether or not he should've said the last part.
-
Ella paled and took a step back. Suddenly the realization of what she was doing hit her. There was a man- a vampire man, to be specific- in her apartment. He was probably stronger than her and could easily overpower her, and he had just mentioned draining her blood as casually as if he was talking about the weather.
-
He looked up, noticing that had grown almost as pale as he was. "I didn't mean it. I wouldn't do that. I don't drink human blood."
-
"R-Right." She replied a little shakily. She had no reason to trust him, she reminded herself. "So...is there anything else you need? A place to sleep? You're not hurt, are you?" She asked. He didn't seem too intent on hurting her, so she decided to be as welcoming as possible.
-
"I... yeah, that'd be nice. And I am hurt, but I'm healing right now so there's not much to do about it. Thanks for the concern, though." He smiled at her before beginning to drain the steak.
-
She nodded. "There's only one bed, so I'll take the couch. If there's anything else you need, just ask." She said with a small smile. "I'll get some more steaks for you tomorrow." She yawned slightly and blushed. "Sorry, I guess I'm a little tired.."
-
He shook his head. "I'm not taking your bed from you. I'll sleep out here. Thank you for this."
-
She smiled. "If you're sure..." She yawned again. "I think I'll go to bed then. My room's down the hall on the left, just wake me up if you need anything." She smiled again and turned to go to her room. "Good night Rory."
-
He nodded. "Goodnight, Ella. Sorry I never checked up." He walked into the kitchen to toss the steak package.
-
Ella walked to her room a hopped into bed, snuggling into the covers with a soft sigh. She felt a little uneasy having someone she barely knew in her apartment, but some pet of her told her that Rory wouldn't hurt her.
-
He walked over to the glass patio doors, and glanced outside. Then he pulled the blinds over, shut them, and relaxed on the couch.
