Rory waited for the elevator, tapping his foot impatiently. As soon as it arrived, he hit the button for the top floor. Once he stepped off, he headed for the roof.
-
Soon enough Ella had her room all set up, along with most of the kitchen and living room. She smiled and thanked both her parents. "So, you're not lonely all by yourself here." "No, actually I-" Ella barely stopped herself from explaining that she wasn't alone. "Actually I'm fine."
-
He didn't do much on the roof, other than sit on the edge and listen through the concrete to Ella and her parents unpacking. It wasn't long, though, until he heard the roof door open.
-
Soon enough her parents were gone. She took the stake back and sat down on the couch, staring down at it. She hoped Rory kept his word and came back.
-
He looked back, noting key details about the figure behind him. She was human, and taller than Ella was. However, she was also a hunter, and seemed to know where he was from. Figuring that she was after him, he smiled up at her, waved goodbye, and dropped onto the fire escape below.
-
Ella sighed. She was truthfully hungry, but like she'd told Rory, she didn't have enough money. Skipping a meal or two couldn't be too bad if it saved her money and food.
-
The hunter girl followed, though he managed to descend more quickly due to vampire speed. He had to admit that she was fast, though. He leapt down off the fire escape and onto the patio outside of Ella's apartment, then started yelling for her and banging his fists against the glass.
-
Ella jumped up and ran to the doors. Her eyes widened and she tugged the doors open, pulling him inside and shutting them quickly. "What's wrong?"
-
"Hunter," he replied, taking the stake from her and standing defensively in front of her. He knew the hunter wouldn't break through to go after him, but felt the need to protect her, regardless.
-
Ella stepped to the side and glanced through the glass. "Are they gone now? I don't see anything..." She murmured.
-
He unlocked the door and slid it open just enough for him to slip through. He was only outside for a short time, though, since the hunter had been waiting and shot something down at him. Rory locked the door and shut the blinds. "Nope."
-
Ella jumped a little when something was shot down. "They won't come in after you...right?" She had no desire to have some hunter intent on killing Rory anywhere near him, herself, or her apartment.
-
He shook his head. "Hunters don't interfere with normal humans." He realized he'd been holding his breath, and finally let himself breath. "So, Ella."
-
"So..?" She replied, still casting a few worried glanced at the glass doors.
-
"You should probably eat, I mean, aren't you hungry?" he asked. "I'd make you something, but I'm not exactly the best cook."
