(Suggestions? When would you prefer to have a major plot point occur?)
He undressed and stepped into the shower, closing the curtain behind him. The hot water pounded against his back, scalding away the daily pains he had been enduring for the longest time.
His mother turned off the range and oven. "I'd best be heading off to work. I have to beat the early morning traffic. Will you be okay on your own?" -
(Near the end of school?)
Jenifer nodded and smiled. "Yeah." She said. She knew her way around his house. -
(Alright.)
Christopher cleansed himself then shut off the water. He reached for his towel, drying his body. He brushed his teeth and combed his hair. Before exiting the bathroom he wrapped the towel around his waist. The boy entered his bedroom and put on his school uniform, still neatly wrapped in plastic from the previous year's cleaning. -
Jenifer looked at the clock after Christopher's mother left. Damn, we got up pretty early...
-
After dressing, he threw his worn clothes into the hamper by the door. Christopher walked down the stairs and back into the kitchen. He got down there just in time to see his mother's car, a silver Volvo, pull out of the driveway.
"Shower's open," he said, entering the kitchen. -
Jenifer looked at him. "Thanks.." she said, getting up and heading towards the stairs.
-
Christopher watched her leave, then walked into the TV room. He turned the television on and flicked to the news channel.
-
Jenifer walked into the bathroom, she closed the door and turned on the water.
-
Various stories came and went, none spiking Christopher's interests. They were all regarding the economy or the upcoming presidential election.
-
She undressed and got in, the water was cool the way she liked it.
-
He sighed and sifted through the channels. Early morning television consisted of nothing more than news, weather, talk shows, and a few reruns here and there.
-
When she finished, she redressed in her old cloths, not caring that she had already worn them the day before. She dried her hair real quick and walked out.
-
He switched off the TV and shut his eyes for a moment. The queasiness was back, making him dizzy and nauseas... All side effects of the illness. All warnings that his time was ending soon.
-
She walked downstairs and looked at the time once again.
-
He took a deep breath, pressing his fingers lightly on his temples, as it to steady his swirling mind.
