"Crap." Muttered Jenifer, as she quickly helped Chris put things away.
-
Once everything was back in place, Christopher grabbed her hand, making a run for the staircase. As soon as they were safely down the steps, he collapsed with laughter. "We still have a winning streak."
-
Jenifer grinned. "Totally." She said and rolled her eyes.
-
"She hasn't caught us yet. Or maybe she just doesn't want to acknowledge her dwindling supplies of candy just yet." He opened up a peppermint patty and took a small bite.
-
Jenifer nodded. "Who knows?" She said, taking a bit of chocolate. "But the point is, we didn't get caught."
-
"I doubt we ever will." He held the party in his mouth and took out a small notepad and a pen. He started to write today's letter to God.
Dear God,
I know you must think I'm angry with you, but I'm not. I know everything happens for a reason, and I'm ready to accept that. I don't think anyone else is though. Could you help them cope when I leave? It would mean the world to me. Oh yeah, and be sure to aid Aunt Marlene in the delivery of her baby next month. Is that the way it works? Trading one life for another? If it is, give my life to their new baby, my new cousin. That's all I ask. Thank you. For everything.
~ Christopher

Jenifer watched him write. She knew he was writing a letter to God. She sighed inwardly, she never had much faith in God.
-
He closed up the pad and clicked the pen shut. He chewed up the rest of the sweet morsel and swallowed.
-
Jenifer lied down, looking out the large window at the full moon.
-
Christopher crinkled up the wrapper and threw it in the trash. It hit off of the rim of the can and fluttered to the carpeted floor.
-
"Fail.." Jenifer muttered, as she yawned sleepily.
-
Chris chuckled a bit and stood up to place the wrapper in the garbage barrel. "We should get some sleep so we can get to school on time tomorrow," he said softly.
-
"You say that like it matters..." She said as her eyes slowly closed. Sleep was taking over.
-
He shrugged. "My first day back... Might as well make a good impression..." He yawned and shut his eyes as well.
-
She sighed before falling asleep.
