Bryan winced. "I'll be there. Five minutes." He didn't bother putting on his shoes or shirt. He burst out the front door and ran down the street, barefoot and shirtless.
Kent looked up as Bryan entered their house through the back door. -
Jess saw Bryan and immediately stood up to hug him.

Bryan immediately pulled her close, wrapping his arms tightly around her.
Kent watched their exchange; his eyes were voids of nothingness once again. -
Jess kissed Bryan on the cheek, and pulled away from the hug.

Kent stood up and slowly walked to his room. His door shut quietly behind him.
Bryan sighed sadly. "I'm so sorry, Jess..." -
Jess hugged Bryan again. "I just don't know what to do..."

Bryan shook his head. "The first thing we do is call the police and tell them everything... That's all that we can do."

Jess sighed and nodded. "Can you do it? I don't think I can-..." Jess burst into tears again.

Bryan rubbed her back gently, trying to comfort her. He took out his cell phone and dialed 911.
Kent kneeled on the floor, his hands trembling. He had a letter from his mother in his hands, telling him how proud his parents were of him; how his first year in public school would be the best. Tears dropped onto the white paper, leaving dark spots of dampness. -

Jess couldn't stop crying. For all she knew, poor Kent was still doing the same. Hell, for all she knew, Kent had been the one to shoot their parents.

Bryan explained everything to the cops. They arrived moments later; some went to retrieve the bodies while two detectives stayed behind to question them.
Kent dropped the paper; it fluttered to the floor quietly, making a swooshing sound as it slid across the hardwood panelling. -
Jess stayed in Bryan's arms the whole time, except for when a detective called her over for questioning. She sighed, and reluctantly walked over to the detective.

Detective Rogers sighed. "I'm Detective Rogers. You're Jessica Baker, correct?"

"Yeah," Jess said, nodding.
