Jess put her arm around Kent. "I know, buddy," she sighed.

Detective Rogers smiled sympathetically. "Maybe another time would be best?"

Jess smiled at the detective. "Probably. Thanks."

The detective stood up. "We'll stop by later tomorrow to continue the investigation. Thank you to your time." After they left, Bryan entered the room.

Jess sighed. "Bryan, can you stay here tonight?"

Bryan nodded. "Sure thing. I can sleep on the couch."

Bryan smiled. "But I might need to run home and grab some clothes, if that's okay." -
Jess sighed. (No, really. I just sighed.) "Sure, hun."

Bryan walked towards the door. "I'll be back in a few," he called before leaving the house.
Kent watched Bryan leave, then fiddled with a loose string on the couch. -
Jess smiled. "Kay." She watched Kent playing with the loose string as she waited for Bryan to come back.

Bryan walked under the dimly lit street lamps. He reached his house in a couple minutes. He grabbed a duffel bag and threw a few essentials in it including a change of clothes and various hygiene related things. He also slipped on a blue teeshirt and put on his old beat up converse.
