Akira held Maddy's hand and led her to the cafeteria. -
Maddy and Akira entered the cafeteria. Akira led her into the lunch line. She hugged him. "You're doing great, Akira. God, you're so strong and brave. Everything's going to be fine." She smiled and looked up at him. They moved forward as the line progressed.

He smiled. "Thanks, you've been so kind to me. I don't think I could have survived today without you."

Maddy smiled. "Hey, that's what I'm here for."

They went through the lunch line and went to a table. He felt his phone vibrate slightly. "Oh, my dad just asked if I had a friend to stay over with." He smiled and wrote back he did.

"You're welcome to stay with me if you want. We have a guest room and my mom wouldn't mind..." Maddy smiled.

"That's great I appreciate it love." He kissed her cheek. "I'll try not to be much of a bother."

She blushed and grinned. "Anytime. And you're never a bother," Maddy replied.
