Maddy plopped her backpack down next to the couch. "We try to keep it nice," she replied. "I can show you to the guest room if you want to get settled and get to know the place," she said.

"Sure, thanks." He followed her to were it.

Maddy led Akira down the hall into a medium sized bedroom. "I can go get some sheets and pillows for the bed," she said and she led him inside. She just now noticed the floral stenciling. "I hope that won't bother you," she said, pointing to the walls. "We never really got around to repainting..."

"It's fine, very nice place." He put his bag down and helped with the bed.

After they got the sheets on the bed Maddy sat down for a second. She heard the front door close. "That's my mom, she's actually been dying to meet you..." she said, smiling aplogetically. She called out to her mom, "In the guest room!"

He smiled, and waited to greet her mom.

Maddy's mom walked in to the room. She was a short woman with blond hair and bright green eyes that reflected wisdom and knowledge. "Mom, this is Akira," Maddy smiled. "A pleasure to meet you, Akira. I'm Maddy's mother, but you can call me Jennifer if you'd like," her mother said, shaking Akira's hand.

He shoke her hand and nodded. "Nice to meet you, Jennifer. I really appreciate you letting me stay here until my dad finds a better situation." He smiled.

"No trouble at all. Stay as long as you like," her mother said, smiling. "I'll go make you two something for dinner. Any preferences?" she asked.

"Anything's fine," he said. "Maybe spaghetti?"

Maddy smiled. "Spaghetti would be nice, Mom." "Alright, spaghetti it is," her mother said. After she left Maddy laughed a bit.

Akira smiled. "What's funny?"

"I don't know... The way she acts when guests are around. She used to be a waitress. I guess she uses that way of mind when we have a guest," Maddy shrugged.

He chuckled. "She's really nice. Reminds me of my mom a lot."

Maddy walked over to Akira and hugged him. "That's sweet. I'm sure she'd be happy to know that..."
