“I wanted to get him out of the house, I’m sorry-“ Connor spoke, resting his hand on Evan’s back.
-
Evan’s dad sighed, balling a hand into a fist. “You’re lucky that you’re tryin to help him- just, just go to your room- and stay there until dinner.”
-
“Yes, sir,” Connor nodded, grabbing Evan’s hand and leading him upstairs to his room. He opened the door and walked in with him, closing the door quietly.
-
Evan sat on his bed, wringing his hands together. “Sorry my dad’s such an a--hole-“
-
"I mean, we did kind of sneak out without telling him, but I guess he also shouldn't have reacted like that-" Connor said, moving to sit beside Evan. "It's okay, though- It's kind of my fault, anyway, I'm the one who suggested it."
-
“Stop blaming yourself for everything, will you?” Evan scoffed quietly, looking away. “I also said I was bored, so technically, with your terminology, It’s my fault-“
-
"Well, I did go along with it- But okay, I- I will," Connor spoke, nodding. "Just, kind of hard not to sometimes."
-
Evan nodded a little, yawning. “Ugh- I also love how he thinks being in my room is a punishment,” he said with a scoff, turning and laying down.
-
Connor chuckled softly, moving to the edge of the bed to not be in Evan's way. "Hey, be glad he's not like, making you do chores or something-"
-
“He’s too scared I’ll hurt myself or break something,” Evan mumbled, moving the sheets over his shoulders. “It’s kinda crazy how much loosing your sight stops you from doing stuff.”
-
"Yeah, that's how- that's how my friend described it, when he first lost his sight," Connor replied, running a hand through his hair. "His parents hovered over him all the time, watching over him like he'd break apart at any second."
-
“Yeah, that’s pretty much what’s going on with me,” Evan said softly. “I mean- until you showed up- I don’t understand why they’re trusting you so much.”
-
"To be honest, me either-" Connor said, chuckling softly. "But I'm kind of glad they do."
-
“Only kind of?” Evan asked with a quiet chuckle.
-
"No, that's- that's not what I meant, I promise-" Connor spoke quickly, his face heating up with embarrassment. "Sorry, I'm- bad with words."
