"I really am sorry. As for vampires I am actually quite young compared to most." Jack said. The other young vampires were either turned or recently born.

‘I-It’s fine, don’t worry about it. See, you’re not that old!’ Mildred said. ‘Just a little older than humans.’

"far older than humans. We vampires are quite the jokesters aren't we. And by quite the jokesters I mean we'd be kicked out of every jester job we tried." Jack said. He started walking towards the garden.

‘Potayto, potahto. You vampires’ sense of humour is just sad. Do you not know one good joke?’ Mildred asked, following him.

"well, I do know one, but it's super cheesy." Jack said. His brother used to tell him lots of jokes whenever they would hang out and he strongly remembered at least one of Alexander's stupid jokes.

‘Go on, tell me!’ Mildred said, looking up at him with a grin. ‘It can’t be that bad, compared to the ones I’ve told you.’

"okay then, get ready for this one. What does a vampire say whenever you hand them something?" Jack asked as he started to smile

Mildred thought for a moment. ‘No clue.’

"fangs a lot!" Jack said before bursting out laughing

Mildred paused, not getting it for a second. She laughed. ‘I think you just insulted your entire race,’ she teased.

"we must insult each other all the time then." Jack said before laughing even more.

Mildred chuckled. ‘That’d be hilarious,’ she said.

"you'd think for a people known for being sticks in the mud, us vampires would take offense to jokes made about our condition but unless it's about the sun we love those jokes." Jack said. He turned to an old hallway that seemed to be filled with ivy as if it had broken down.

Mildred followed him. ‘So why don’t you make them more? Vampire jokes are much more funny than human jokes.’

"because we're sticks in the mud. The kingdom has also been in a semi state of mourning. It's most likely due to how gloomy I am." Jack said.
