(Omg I’m so sorry for the late response! I must’ve seen this at school and completely forgot to respond)
Mildred kept her gaze on him for a moment, before turning back to her food. She tapped her feet against the floor absentmindedly. -
It's all good))
Jack finished the ham quick. It was good. He wondered if or what Wilhelm planned for dessert. He hoped it wasn't too sweet. Jack had a bit of a one track mind when it came down to food. -
Mildred finished a bit after him. She wiped her mouth on her sleeve.
-
"Should I ring for the next course now? Honestly I'm quite curious what Wilhelm has made." Jack asked Mildred. It was courtesy and small talk
-
Mildred nodded, finishing off her food. ‘Of course,’ she said.
-
Jack rang the bell and immediately Wilhelm brought out a plate of... Apples on sticks. This was strange to jack. They were slightly decorated with different things, most notably one being light brown. This confused him. He raised his eyebrows.
(Jack has never had candy apples before, nor has he seen caramel) -
(Alrighty lol)
Mildred sat up slightly in her seat. She hadn’t seen candy apples since she was a little kid. ‘Thanks, Wilhelm.’ -
"no problem. This is actually a sample for the party." Wilhelm said. "What do apples on a stick mean?" Jack asked. He was very curious
-
‘It’s a candy apple,’ Mildred said, grabbing one by the stick. ‘It’s an apple covered in caramel and stuff. They have these at human carnivals.’
-
"what's caramel? Actually, I should probably ask about festivals. I mean, my people have festivals but I have never been to one." Jack said before picking up the apple part of the candy apple. "It's sticky." He remarked.
-
‘You’ve never been to a festival?’ Mildred questioned in disbelief, biting into the candy apple. ‘Well, caramel is kind of like his sugary glaze. You heat up a bunch of sugars to make it.’
-
"it is not considered a noble hobby. Usually nobles do get to work a booth at the festival but we don't usually get to walk around the festival. I would have gotten to run a booth if I wasn't busy running the city." Jack said before taking a bite of the apple. It was sweet and more importantly not as difficult to eat as corn on the Cobb.
-
‘That’s stupid. Would your people think less of you if you went to one or something?’ Mildred asked, then took another bite from her candy apple. She remembered when her parents took her and her brother to a festival. She would’ve been six, maybe seven at the time, yet she still remembered it well.
-
"it's more of the fact that nobles are the only ones running the festival so if we actually participated in the festivities then no one would be running the booths at that time." Jack said.
-
‘That’s fair, I guess. In the human town the regular townsfolk are the ones running the booths,’ Mildred said.
