Mildred read for quite some time, a few hours at least. She started to get drowsy, but continued reading. After a while she fell into a light sleep, book in her lap.
-
Jack hugged the stuffed rabbit and eventually fell asleep. His sleep was restless. Frederick was there and it was some sort of twisted time loop in the dream. Everything would be fine for the first bit then suddenly something would happen and Frederick would either be dying or he'd be attacked jack. He tossed and turned throughout his dream. Meanwhile in the library a mysterious figure took the book from Mildred while she slept
-
Mildred stirred a little at the weight suddenly taken off her lap, but went still again and continued to sleep. A small amount of drool trickled down the corner of her mouth as she did so.
-
The mysterious figure laughed before running away. Meanwhile jack tossed and turned throughout his sleep. No matter what he did he wasn't finding any way to save Frederick bavlenca. He was throwing around his bedsheets to the point they all fell off before his woke up in his dark room. He had to guess it was 12 pm. Much too early for him.
-
Mildred eventually woke, rubbing her eyes. She looked out the window. It was day. Everybody else in the castle would be sleeping. Mildred glanced down at her book pile. There were still three by the chair, but she noticed the one in her lap was gone.
'That's strange,' Mildred mumbled to herself, a habit she'd had since the fire. She checked she was not sitting on it or that it had fallen down. 'Where'd it go?' -
Jack noticed he'd slept in his regular clothes. He also noticed he was drenched in sweat and his throat felt like a dessert. He wished he could ring the bell for Wilhelm to bring him a glass of milk. He stood up and took off his nighttime boots because he might as well get comfortable if he was going to sleep thirsty
-
Mildred continued searching the library. She looked where she'd first found the book in the shelf and in every other shelf. Under the table and each chair, next to the sofa, behind the sofa. She couldn't find it.
Mildred sighed. 'It was a good book, too,' she mumbled, grabbing the others. She carried the other three books to her room and set the pile on the chair, then changed into her old clothes and slept in them.
In her dreams came old memories. Memories of her family and her friends and her fear of the royal guards all tied into one strange story. Mildred curled up in her sleep and squirmed. -
Jack changed into his sleep clothes and looked around his room in the dark. There was understandably nothing for him. He heaved a frustrated grunt before laying down on Frederick's old bed, trying to go to sleep but being unable to. He was too thirsty to sleep. It felt unbearable. He started clawing at his throat as the thrust consumed his every thought
-
Mildred eventually stopped wriggling in her sleep , sweat dripping down her forehead as her breathing slowed and the dreams stopped. She was in a deep sleep, and was in for quite some time.
-
Jack spent the whole day clawing at his throat. His hands were covered in his own blood when his butler came to wake him up. "Young master what have you done!?" The butler cried out terrified. Jack looked over with hope. "Cane, you're here! Finally, can you get me some milk, or rabbits blood or something" jack begged. His neck was starting to heal itself but he was still thirsty
-
Mildred heard a faint shouting and woke up. She rubbed the sweat off her forehead and glanced to her books, making sure they were all there. She was still fazed by what had happened the previous night - or day? - and thought all this over as she changed into the dress Jack had gotten her and pulled on her shoes. The leather was tearing at the bottom, she noticed.
-
"why did you DO that side, this is why we need skeletons I swear!" Cane fussed at jack. Jack dug his nails into his neck once again then tried drinking the blood off of his hands. It only made his throat dry out more.
-
Mildred walked down to the library to try and find the missing book. She'd figured it had to be somewhere, books didn't just go missing.
-
Cain left the room and returned with a glass of milk for Jack. It would be enough to make him feel better. Milk wasn't incredibly hydrating but it could help with the thirst greatly. Jack decided it was time to change afterwards and got Cain to help
-
Mildred searched everywhere once again, but could not find the book. 'Maybe I'm going crazy,' she sighed as she made her way back to her room.
