Jack walked slightly faster as he could tell Mildred was tired.
-
Mildred followed him. They got to her room and she opened the door, looking at Jack. ‘Thanks.’
-
"it's no problem." Jack said. He waved as he walked backwards towards the throne room
-
Mildred gave a small smile and waved back, then walked inside her room. She flopped onto her bed, keeping the door open a crack to stop it getting stuffy from lack of windows.
-
Jack headed off to the throne room. The party was almost completely set. Jack then had a thought. He wondered if the citizens would understand. It wouldn't be great if they didn't but jack was sure they'd understand.
-
Mildred pulled the covers over her, rolling onto her side. She closed her eyes, but instead of falling asleep, her thoughts wandered to what her life would look like from now on. Would she live in the palace for the rest of her life? Would she get a job and find a partner and have kids? Would she have friends? Would she be well-off? Would she live happily ever after?
-
Jack sat on his throne and went through the papers on his side table. He got bored quite fast. It was an overcomplicated way to tell him everything was fine.
-
Mildred’s thoughts eventually tired her, and she fell asleep. She woke up an hour or two later, stretching.
-
Jack finished reading through the papers. It was as uneventful as usual. A few complaints but nothing that big. He decided to go to the library to do some light reading.
-
Mildred wasn’t quite sure what to do now. She brushed the knots out of her hair, but didn’t have any dresses to wear other than her old one, so she hoped she didn’t smell too bad. She walked through the halls in search of either Jack, Frederick, or some kind of entertainment.
-
In the hall, there was a strange maid. She had a slightly different dress then the rest of them. It was more fancy, like something out of a storybook. She seemed to be laughing at the wall as she cleaned it.
-
Mildred looked at the maid. Her dress intrigued her, but she seemed a little strange. Mildred knew better than to talk to strange people.
-
The strange maid stood up. There in lies why she was seemingly laughing at nothing. On the wall was bright purple graffiti. This maid wrote "jezebel can eat my socks!" on the wall.
-
Mildred stopped walking. She read the graffiti. The thought of someone as mean as Jezebel eating socks amused her, but she wondered if Jack allowed such things to be written on the walls.
-
The maid hopped away. Jack chose an old book in his library to read. The spine was so worn he couldn't read the title.
