Mildred quickly stood up. She moved Jack’s hands away from each other in an attempt to make him stop scratching, even though she was aware he could just keep going. She ran into the castle and down to the dining hall, hitching up her skirt as he did so.
-
Jack started biting his hands as he leaned forward until his head touched the cold stone path. Wilhelm was sitting in the kitchen, making jam for tomorrows breakfast.
-
Mildred opened the door and hurried into the kitchen. ‘Wilhelm! Jack told me to get you, he’s acting all weird-‘ she said, jogging to the chef.
-
"what was he doing? Did he start shape shifting?" Wilhelm asked? Jack's nose started to rub he looked around and saw a fresh patch of dirt. It looked red. He clawed his way over and started shoveling dirt in his mouth.
-
‘He’s picking at his skin and itching and stuff-‘ Mildred said. ‘I asked him what was wrong and he told me to come get you.’
-
"oh my, oh no." Wilhelm. He looked at the ground for a minute before looking back to Mildred. "Miss Mildred, I'm going to have to ask you do something difficult. You may be mad at me all you want but I beg you to do this small thing. I mean... We may be filthy vampires but it's such a terrible fate..." Wilhelm said worriedly. Jack coughed out the dirt. It made it worse.
-
Mildred frowned slightly. ‘What is it?’ she asked, somewhat nervously.
-
"could you please tell jack it's okay for him to drink blood. He's dehydrating himself. I should've noticed when he didn't drink the pitcher. I know it is Grim and scary that we drink blood but we'll die. I'm sure it's not pleasant for humans to dehydrate either." Wilhelm said.
I know Mildred has told jack it was okay before but Wilhelm doesn't know that and also jack did it before so Wilhelm is thinking jack feels guilty.)) -
(Alrighty, cool)
Mildred blinked. ‘Like, from the pitcher? I’ve already told him I don’t mind it. I mean, I get it, I don’t blame him for needing to stay alive.’ she said, frowning slightly. -
"well... That's surprisingly accommodating. I'm sorry, jack tends to get guilty and do stupid things occasionally so I assumed he was dehydrating himself out of guilt." Wilhelm explained as he retrieved a sealed pitcher from an ice box.
-
‘It’s okay. Can you go check on him please? I don’t want to, y’know,’ Mildred said, rubbing the back of his neck. ‘make him feel worse.’ She already felt bad.
-
"I'm bringing him the pitcher. You're fine young lady. He felt guilty at the best of times. The only reason he ever dehydrated himself in the first place was that blasted Frederick." Wilhelm said heading to the back door of the kitchen.
-
‘Frederick. What’s the deal with him, anyway? He’s a horrible person, but what happened between him and Jack?’ Mildred asked, following him.
-
"well, it started when I told him the power of a vampire eye by accident, but it escalated when the fight happened. I don't know what they were fighting about but Frederick yelled that he would always be a blood sucking monster then jack fell apart. He became ashamed of himself in every aspect it seemed." Wilhelm said.
-
‘That… actually makes sense. But, why would Frederick say that? I mean, they loved each other, right? Frederick didn’t know what a vampire eye could do until after they started their relationship…’ Mildred trailed off, trying to weight it up in her mind. ‘Did something else happen? Like some kind of tragic backstory or betrayal on Frederick’s side?’
