Mildred glanced at him for a moment. She looked down and rubbed her face with her hands. ‘I… I’m going to go back to my room. I have a book to read,’ she said quietly, turning around and beginning to walk out of the garden.

"I know vampire lives and human lives are different, I just thought both of us understood the other had struggles. I know human life can be fairly difficult. Just.... Ugh." Jack said. He hated several aspects of his life. Immortality would be better if he truly had something to live for. Immortality without reason was possibly what destroyed his happiness so much. He had tears to wallow in his own sadness.

Mildred walked out of the garden, rubbing her face with her hands. She walked out of the front of the castle, breathing in the fresh nighttime air. She settled on the grass and rubbed her face with her hands. It wasn’t that she thought being a human was so tragic, or that she thought it was great being a vampire. She just thought it was unfair that vampires got so much time they didn’t want or need and humans didn’t get enough. She felt selfish thinking of her family and wishing.

Jack sat in his garden, listening to the ensemble of frogs. He hated most aspects of being a vampire, he thought that was pretty obvious. Did he not mention enough that his immortality was a curse. He had no reason to eat and it was starting to bring him far less joy. He hated that he was immortal, he hated having to drink human blood he hated not being able to be in the sun and he hated that he felt bad for feeling that way. He wanted to love being immortal and staying up all night and drinking blood. He laid down to contemplate this in the cool, soft patch of clovers.

Mildred picked the grass as she thought. She sighed softly and looked up at the sky and all the stars.

Jack closed his eyes. He wished it was something else, that he was a normal vampire instead of the royal class. He liked being a prince though. It came with many luxuries he wouldn't want to give up.

Mildred lay down on the grass. It ticked her ear. She dug her finger into the dirt absently.

Jack ended up falling asleep in the field of clovers. The moths settled onto him as he slept.

Mildred sighed and stood back up. She rubbed her face and walked back to the garden, going to find Jack.

Jack started to have a dream. He was standing above the whole world. A woman with pink hair sat beside Alexander. She looked familiar. There was also a man with black hair and a woman wearing a wedding veil. They all looked familiar. Then he realized. They were Alexander's old friends. The ones who betrayed them.

Mildred looked around. She managed to find her way back to the garden, and looked down at Jack. ‘Jack, there you are, I wanted to-‘ She cut herself off when she saw that the vampire was sleeping. ‘Ah.’ She looked around and sat on the edge of one of the flowerbed walls, and figured she’d wait for him to wake up.

"jack, come join us. You don't have to stay there you know." Yusa said. "You can't tell him nothing, he's smarter than you b----." Alexander said to yusa. Jack was not listening. He stepped off of the clouds, and woke up.

Mildred looked down at Jack. She was sitting on the dirt next to him, leaning against the wall of the flowerbed. Walls weren’t very comfortable. ‘Ah, Jack, I wanted to apo-‘ She paused. ‘Are you okay, Jack? The floor isn’t a very comfortable place to sleep.’

"the clovers are comfortable. I just felt a little tired." Jack said. He tried to remember the faces of the people in his dream. He'd forgotten most of the human faces except the pink one. It was contorted in fear. That was what he remembered most. He executed her last because Alexander wanted to turn her into a vampire first.
