"this is prettier than the other room." Florence said as he looked around. "It was... For.. a scientist's... Daughter." Riley said.
-
Collins hoped nothing bad had happened to the daughter. ‘Why are the shelves locked?’
-
"she had... A depth perspective issue... She would often.... Accidentally tear the pages.... And get papercuts... So her bookshelf.... Was restricted... Until she could get an optic operation... She was actually... Discharged... A few weeks before the shutdown." Riley said. Florence walked up to the shelf and crushed the small child lock on the door.
-
‘Oh,’ Collins said. ‘Makes sense, I guess.’ She looked back at Florence.
-
Florence pulled the lock off of the cabinet and opened the doors to take out a book, Green eggs and ham. The edges were slightly torn and worn down from a frequent reader.
-
Collins remembered reading that book when she was 7. She sat down on the floor next to the shelf.
-
"I didn't know ham could be green." Florence said in confusion at the book. Riley laughed. It was a much less harsh sound then her appearance would lead you to believe. It was the laugh of a mother.
-
‘I don’t think it can be. Not in real life, anyway,’ Collins said with a small smile, leaning back against the wall.
-
"I made green eggs and ham... Once " Riley said. Florence cocked his head before he started to read the book.
-
‘How did you make them green?’ Collins asked.
-
"food safe dye.... And a bit of creativity." Riley said. Florence flapped his wings a bit as he read faster. Clearly invested in the children's book
-
‘I’ll have to try that sometime.’ If my parents let me near the kitchen utensils. She looked over Florence’s shoulder.
-
"if the kitchens worked... I'd make green eggs and ham.... And pancakes... Decorated like the cat in the hat." Riley said. Florence was absorbed by the book and quietly, he was mimicking a small melody to match the book
-
‘That would be nice. Why do you hang around in this part of the hospital? It isn’t the, er, best part of it,’ Collins said, looking back up at her.
-
"it reminds me... Of my Mary... And when I was normal... When I was a beautiful young woman... instead of the cursed Michelin man from hell." Riley said. Florence looked up for a minute and furrowed his brows
