'More time to think of the next part of the story,' Callum shrugged.

Eli considered that. “Wait- are you seriously making detention sound fun?” He asked. He’d been there before and it certainly was anything but fun.

'Depends what they make you do.'

“You just sit in silence for 30 minutes. I think the goal is for you to do homework in that time, but nobody ever does.”

'What happens if you talk?'

Eli shrugged. “I dunno, when I was in there it was just me and another kid, and we didn’t talk at all.”

'Huh,' Callum said thoughtfully.

“My guess is they give you in lunch detention.”

'Probably. And lunch is the best part of the day, so we don't want that.'

“Exactly. So stop trying to get detention by talking!”

'Alright, alright,' Callum put his hands up in surrender.

Eli grinned as he read the textbook a bit.
“Ok, never mind, this is boring, talk to me please.” -
'So you want detention now?'
