'She just never saw her dad again,' Callum shrugged. 'It doesn't mean anything than what it says.'

Eli rolled their eyes. “You’re just trying to get my hopes up that he’s alive.”

'You caught me,' Callum said, putting his hands up in mock surrender.

“Haha, I will never fall into your trap!” Eli said, grinning.

'Anyway,' Callum laughed, 'Do you want to hear what happens next?'

“No, I’m actually really interested in our history lesson.” Eli said sarcastically.

'If you say so,' Callum said with a smirk, turning back to the front and pretending to read his textbook.

“Wait, no, please tell me the rest!” Eli begged, blocking the page of Callums textbook.

Callum turned in his seat so that he was facing Eli. 'Well, the stepsister continued to raise the little girl. When the daughter grew up, the stepsister made her pay back every cent she used to feed and take care of her.'

“That’s bull crap!” Eli called out, hating the stepsister more and more by the minute.

'It's not real,' Callum said with a smile at how absorbed Eli was in the story. 'It's just a story.'

“I don’t care, that’s a jerky aunt and the parents were awesome and the poor girl-“ Eli stopped, realizing they were rambling.
