Natsuki followed him off the bus and down the street, to his small house.

Nikolai went in the house first, making sure his parents weren’t there before letting Nat in.

Nat stepped inside and hurried to him room, making sure not to make too much noise.

Nikola sat on the edge of his bed, fiddling with a couple magnets he found.

Natsuki sat down next to him and took the necklaces out of her pocket, mainly to check they were still there. She fiddled with the charms, careful not to break them.

“Those charms are super cool.” Nikolai said, grinning. He tried calculating how much money they’d be worth, and settled on a couple hundred dollars.

Natsuki nodded with a small smile and ran her index finger and thumb along the chain.

Nik laid down on his bed, still fidgeting with the magnets.
“Are you still tired?” He asked Natsuki, remembering how exhausted she seemed on the bus ride. -
Natsuki nodded, though was slightly scared of sleeping again in fear of having another nightmare.

Nikolai made room for Natsuki on the bed, sitting up.
“Here, go ahead.” He said, smiling. “I won’t go anywhere.” -
Natsuki's and returned the necklaces to her pockets, then kicked off her shoes and lay down. She closed her eyes and within a few minutes she was in a light sleep.

Nikolai grabbed a blanket and placed it over Nate’s body, making sure it didn’t suffocate her or anything.

Outside, Nik's parents had started arguing. His mother was screaming at is father, who was swearing and slamming doors. Natsuki was in a deep enough sleep that she didn't stirr, though.

Nikolai winced as he heard his parents scream at each other, glad that Nat was asleep so she didn’t have to hear any of it.

After a few minutes a door slammed and his mother shouted something, then it was quiet.
