Nik looked at what she wrote, and his face paled. “Of course you can stay here.” He welcomed her in his house. Niks parents just settled down for the night, which was a relief. He didn’t want her to have to witness anything his parents did.
-
Natsuki's shoulders relaxed slightly as she stepped inside. The first thing that she though of was how small and crowded it was. A sofa, an incredibly small kitchen, and two small rooms that went off to the sidr.
-
“It’s really small, I know.” Nikolai said, not meeting Nats eyes. He debated on if she should come in his room, but decided against it. The room could barely fit ONE person, let alone TWO people.
-
Nat glanced at him, giving a small smile. She didn't want to seem rude, so she didn't reply with a nod. Instead, she took a seat on the sofa and looked around for his parents, wondering if they would mind her staying here for a while.
-
“Someone following you?” Nikolai asked in a hushed whisper. He didn’t want his parents to hear their conversation and realize that someone was at their house. “Really? Does your brother know?”
-
Natsuki nodded, chewing her bottom lip nervously.
-
(Dammit I have to go! I'll try to get on this afternoon)
-
“That’s… that’s really bad.” Nikolai said. He didn’t mean really bad that her brother knew, but it might’ve sounded like that. “Did they follow you here?” He asked. He was scared that they did, which wouldn’t be great, but he didn’t see anyone behind her when she knocked on his door. And even if he did, he knew it was better if they went to his house instead of hers.
-
(Ok, bye!)
-
Natsuki shook her head, still shaking slightly. She wasn't 100% sure they hadn't followed her, but she hadn't seen or heard anybody when she had found herself back at Nik's house.
She was mostly certain she hadn't been followed to Nik's house. -
Nikolai noticed that Nats shoulders were still shaking, and he put his hand on his shoulders gently.
“It’s okay.” He said, trying to sound calm. “The important thing is you’re safe.”
He heard a door open, but it wasn’t the front door. It was his parents room. His mom was awake. -
Natsuki relaxed slightly, but still looked shaky and rather pale. She jumped as the door opened, revealing a cranky-looking woman. Nat didn't say anything, and the woman stared at her and then Nik, narrowing her eyes.
'Who are you?' she snapped at Nat, though was looking at Nikolai. -
“Mom, this is Natsuki.” Nikolai said, trying to sound like he wasn’t terrified of how his mom was going to react. “She’s a friend.”
Niks mom narrowed her eyes at Nat. “What is she doing here?” She said.
“I-um… she needed a place to stay for a bit.” Nikolai responded. “Until her brother can get her.” He shrank slightly, ready for his mom to yell at him. -
(YOU'RE HERE!!!)
Natsuki looked up at Nik's mother. She couldn't have been much taller than Nik, and looked the type to whack you over the head with a rolling pin.
'Your friend is quiet,' his mum said, still staring at Nat. Natsuki glanced at Nikolai, unsure of how to respond. -
Nikolai nodded, shocked at how his mom reacted. No yelling-yet…
He realized that his mom was waiting for a response.
“Oh, um… she can’t really talk…” he said, looking at Nat.
