Xiao looked back to Natsuki, who was glaring at him.
'Fine,' he snapped, looking away. 'Go.'
Natsuki grabbed Nik's hand and lead him outside. The town looked creepy at night, the light coming from the buildings were the only thing helping them see. -
Nikolai tried to remember where his house would be. His mind remembered how he went to Nats house from the school, and how he normally walked home from school.
He took a left turn, making sure Natsuki followed him. The last thing they needed was to get lost or separated in the dark. -
Natsuki followed Nikolai, staying close to avoid getting lost. She pulled out her phone from her coat pocket and put the torch on, trying to increase the level of light. It helped them see a little, not much though.
-
After practically FOREVER, they finally reached Niks tiny neighborhood, if you could call it that. It was basically just a bunch of tiny little houses crammed together.
Nikolai let out a sigh of either relief or sadness. On one hand, he was glad he didn’t get them lost, but on the other hand, he didn’t want to leave Nat, and he DEFINITELY didn’t want to go back to his mess of a family. -
Natsuki looked at the tiny houses all crammed into a street. They were more like sheds. Nat glanced at Nik, then back at the houses. She pulled her coat tighter around her, shivering in the cold.
-
Nikolai saw Natsuki shivering.
“Hey, it’s ok, you can take my hoodie if you want.” Nik said, taking off his hoodie and holding it out to her. “After all, You’re gonna need it more than I will, since you have to walk back to your house. Do you remember the way to your house?” Nik REALLY didn’t want her to get lost trying to go back to her house, especially after the whole story with foster care looking for them. -
Natsuki nodded, though she wasn't actually so sure. She gratefully took his hoodie and pulled it over her sweater, deciding to return it tomorrow.
She looked back at him, smiling. -
Nikolai smiled back, still worrying about if she was going to get home safely.
“Well, I’ll see you tomorrow!” He said cheerfully, and walked up to his house, a tiny brick building. -
Natsuki waved to him as he walked inside. She turned her phone torch back on and glanced behind her, starting to walk back home.
She must've taken a wrong turn at some point, because she found herself walking down a neighbourhood she didn't recognise. How could a small country town seem so big? -
Nikolai entered his house to almost immediately find his parents having a screaming match with each other. It was a pretty normal thing for him to hear, but he still winced every time he witnessed it. He set down his backpack and entered his room, which was barely big enough to fit himself. He laid down on his bed, thinking about how that day was definitely the best day of his life.
-
Natsuki pulled her arms through Nik's hoodie sleeves, folding her arms to feel warmer. Her bare legs felt like they were freezing in this temperature.
She heard a sound behind her, footsteps.
"Shoot," she thought, and fastened into a run. -
Nikolai fell asleep rather quickly considering he normally had a REALLY hard time falling asleep and staying asleep.
(Idk what to write rn😂) -

Natsuki sprinted down the street, trying to lose whoever was following her. She didn't want to look behind her in case someone would be able to recognise her. She took all kinds of twists and turns down any street she got to, until she eventually lost them.
She leaned down, hand on her knees, trying to catch her breath. She had gotten back to Nik's house.
Natsuki typed a quick explanation in text to Xiao, and knocked on the door, unable to risk getting caught again. -
Nikolai woke up almost instantly by the knock. He checked the time, and he only slept for about 30 minutes. He opened the door, and Nat was on the front steps.
“You sure you don’t need help going back to your house?” He joked, but then noticed her face, which was one word: terrified. -
Natsuki took a deep breath, and typed an explanation in the notes app.
She wrote: I was being followed. I can't risk running back home. Can I stay here for a while?
