Anne smiled back. 'Good,' she said, setting her hairbrush on the bedside table.

Lily pursed her lips looking around the room. "So, when does your school start?" She asked.

Anne had, for a split second, forgotten about school. She quickly stood up. 'I'm not sure, but there's a clock downstairs,' she said, hurrying to the door.

Lily scurried after her, almost tripping on the stairs.

Anne chuckled quietly at her friend's clumsiness, then checked the grandfather clock in the front room.

The clock read it was twenty-five to nine. "It starts at 9 right?" Lily asked staring intently at the clock though she could hardly distuignish the numbers as she hadn't gone to school before.

Anne looked at the clock. 'It starts in 25 minutes!' she exclaimed.

"Come on then" Lily laughed grabbing Anne's hand and running across the hallway.

Anne chuckled. 'I'm coming!' she said.

(So are we going straight to school or like having breakfast first or what?)

Lily followed Anne down to the bakery. She inhaled the homely smell of warm bread. -
Anne grabbed two crossiants from the glass case, and passed one to Lily.

Lily gazed at it, eyes wide. She'd seen people eat these but never got the chance to try one herself. She savoured the sweet, flaky buttery flavour. "This is great!"

Anne chuckled at that reaction. 'I'm glad you like it.'
