Anne smiled, leaning back onto the cushioned chair. She watched the countryside whiz by outside, slowly turning into urban city.

Lily watched as the blue sky turned grey and sooty. She watched the beach huts turn into miniture doll-houses in the distance, the large plain buildings now in full view.

They soon came to a rickety stop, the cart wobbling as Mariella exited the passenger seat. Anne had been braiding Lily's hair for the past 20 minutes, trying to make it look perfect at least from the back, and lowered her arms with a smile.
'Perfect,' she said quietly. She stepped out of the cart, holding the door open for Lily. -
"Thank you, it feels much better now" Lily smiled jumping out of the cart.

Anne grinned, shutting the door behind Lily. She took the hamper from the back and Mariella took the blanket.
'Thanks, Francis,' Anne said to the work boy. He gave her a nod and drove the cart away from the bakery, down the road. -
Lily walked along the cobblestone street and up to the bakery. She opened the door and held it open for Anne and Mariella.

Mariella smiled at Lily and entered, Anne doing the same. Once Lily stepped inside Anne closed and locked the door behind her.

"Now girls, none of us are hungry seeing as we have had a beautiful picnic recently, so I suggest you two go and play for a while, maybe bathe, and then we'll have dinner. "Lily how does your stomach settle to fish?"

Anne continued up the stairs, setting the hamper on the kitchen counter.

"Sounds lovely" she smiled then scampered up the stairs after Anne.

Anne started unpacking the basket, putting leftovers in the cupboard.

Lily helped Anne in pack the hamper, passing various items of food to her.

Once they were finished, Anne asked, 'What do you want to do to pass the time?' and put the basket away.

"I don't know, what would you like to do?"
