Up in the mountains, a single horse thunders across the ground, splashing through the puddles as the rain comes down hard. Though the scenery is dark from the clouds and even darker as it is nighttime, the horse speeds between the trees as its owner pushes it along. On the horse sits a tall, bulky man with heavy silver armor on. His hair is short and blue-grey with a single patch of black towards the left side, his eyes are blood-red, and his face holds a cold, hardened expression. In his left hand, he holds the horse's reins, and in the right, he holds a javelin. "You may have slipped away, but you know I'll find you," he roars. "There's no point in hiding."
Just then, the bushes rustle, but all that remains is a shadow by the bush. Sharpening his eyes and gritting his teeth together, the man throws his javelin at the shadow.
"AGH," Aries cries out, losing their shadow form and regaining their regular form, slinking up from the ground and holding their left arm—the arm the javelin grazed. Immediately, the man draws his sword and swings it at Aries as he jumps off his horse. Zacharius stumbles backwards, nearly tripping over the bottome of a tree. Weakly, they catch themself and draw their sword to counter the attacks, but with a mighty strike, the man knocks Aries' sword out their hand. "Your time is up, witch!" the man snarls before making one final blow with his sword.
Zacharius' cry rings out just as thunder crashes and lightning lights up the sky.
As Kase and Revelation are the first to arrive at the scene, they find the man standing over Aries, and Aries is lying on the ground, badly wounded and eyes closed. -
I witnessed the scene in front of me, and the only thing I felt was lividity. Pure, unadulterated, fury. I stopped the horse a bit of a distance away, hopping off and tapping the relic, standing reading to fight. "I have no clue who you are, what the hell you are, or where you came from. All I know is that we're going to be taking Aries, and if you DARE try to attack or injure any of the three of us, we will not hesitate.." The blade formed in my hands as I stood, ready to stand my own ground, a very noticeable scowl burned into my face. "..to eviscerate you to kingdom come.", I finished gravely.
-
"Feel free to take Ulbritch back with you... I have no need for dead bodies," the man grimly remarks.
As Revalation prepares to fight, the voice of Zacharius fades in and out in his mind. "N-no... Don't... He'll kill you... Leave before.... Don't..."
As Zacharius lies on the ground, they begin to emit dark clouds of energy like smoke flying into the air. Their eyes become a dull gold color, and their hair becomes a greyish-green, losing its shine. -
Gazing at the entity, then at Aries, I visibly trembled from rage, but decided to avoid confrontation for their sake. I cautiously made my way to their body, sheathing the sword and slowly helping them up, being extremely careful. I helped them to Kase, all the while glaring down the unknown assailant with wanting violent retribution. After ensuring they were safe, I turned toward the two of them and nodded once. "Get to the hospital A.S.A.P. I'll follow shortly behind.", I directed, still keeping an eye on the figure.
-
"On it," Kase firmly replies.
The man chuckles as he watches Revelation and Kase frantically trying to assist Zacharius. "There's no saving him," the man mocks. "Once even a drop of excorlix gets onto a witch, it will tear them apart like poison. Your friend is already dead; it just doesn't know it." -
I slowly turned my head towards the entity, a look of pure insanity in my eyes. As much as I wanted to rip it a new one, Aries was in grave danger, and I was ill prepared to deal with this foe. So, I figured I would need to leave and ensure they're going to be well soon enough. I jumped on my horse and got out of there as quickly as I could.

After reaching a hospital and situating Zacharius in a room, Kase waits outside for Revelation. Upon his arrival, Kase gives him an update with a grave look. "It appears that Zacharius is fighting off a poison of some sort, in addition to having sustained significant wounds. We're you able to at least gather information on what occurred?"
-
I felt low, lower than I have in ages. But I had to brave it onwards. "Excorlix. He made it sound like they have no way of patching through this. I have never heard of it. How fatal is it?", I asked, worrying intensely as I gazed towards the room.
-
"Excorlix?! That elixir is powerful. It's used to purge witches of their magic, to separate the "evil" from their bodies. But we are nothing without our magic. Our magic is the very essence of who we are, and without it, we cannot take or keep form. When poison enters our bodies, our blood and magic works to group together, capture the poison, and release it as energy, but excorlix feeds off of the cells within our magic infused in our blood, and it reproduces and takes until we have nothing left to give. Very few survive excorlix. Right now, Zacharius seems to be asleep, but we CANNOT let them do any strenuous work until we know for certain they're okay."
-
I looked down in near defeat, but nodded. "I'll do what I can to ensure they won't be under any stress.", I ensured, putting my fist on my heart. I believed I could do it, though I was worried..
-
Kase lets Revelation into the room with Zacharius, and there, the two wait for hours before a single change takes place. Late into the night, Kase has fallen asleep in the corner of the dark room, but in the silence, rustling begins. Turning over in the bed, Zacharius moans, uttering a single word. "Hot..." Catching Revelation's attention, Aries repeats themself, sweating and staring up at the ceiling, flushed.
-
I looked around the room for anything I could use to cool them down. Thinking quicky, I found an ice pack in the freezer and placed it on their head, watching fearfully in case of any changes in their body.
-
"Where am I?" Aries asks in a low voice. "What happened?" They stare at Revelation in complete confusion, trembling from the fever's hold on them. They try to sit up, but fall back down in bed.
-
"You were in a scuffle. Heavily damaged. Please take it easy. Wouldn't want you to hurt yourself.", I advised, feeling somewhat relieved. "You were infected with excorlix, which I've been told can wipe your powers."
-
"Not only that, but my very being. My DNA is weak, on its own, to fight this... I was wounded close to the heart," Aries explains, briefly placing their hand over their back. For a moment, Aries is silent, thinking over something. They look as though they wish to say something to Revelation, but they withhold their words, then gazing down at their cover in sorrow.
