This feeling.... Animosity. Fury. Wishing for retribution. I couldn't.. No. She was just a child. But a demon.. Gritting my teeth, I shook my head and did what I could to attend their needs. "Hon.. If you need to to do what we did last time, I'll gladly do so. I don't want to live without you.", I cried, a single tear falling down my cheek. As I watched them get taken to the hospital, I also witnessed the child be taken away in heavy protection. "I hope I can do something..", I thought, catching up to their cavalcade with a pained expression.

Hours pass as Zacharius is held in a hospital room. Early in the next morning, A doctor emerges from the room. Kase and Revelation awaken, having slept in the waiting room.
"We have news about Ulbritch," the doctor states, waving for them to follow. They lead the two into the room and close the door.
There on the bed, Aries lay with an oxygen mask on, barely able to keep their eyes open, and on their forehead a bandage rests.
"Zacharius is really fighting to stay with us. The only thing we can really do is sedate them and force them into a sort of coma to recover. However, they appear to be losing certain functions. Zacharius isn't able to take true form or shadowshift, which rules out healing from the excorlix as they did before. Zacharius has physical amnesia, it would seem, as the excorlix has corrupted their abilities. It may be possible for them to relearn these abilities later on, but forcing them into sleep is risky, at this point. But, at the same time, it's the only alternative... So we've decided to go through with the procedure. Kholer has ruled that we do..." The doctor pauses. "Please do whatever you must to prepare yourselves for Aries' temporary hibernation."
Kase sighs, grabbing hold of Zacharius' hand. "Zach, if you can hear me, just...don't forget...I'm here for you... If anything happens, I'll help you through... And I... I just...really hope you'll be okay..." With that, Kase exists the room and doesn't dare look back. -
I had felt cold and miserable since we arrived, and was secretly relieved that no one had been nearby me. I, however, was feeling rather depressed and insecure about this entire situation, feeling broken and to blame for this entire situation. After everyone had said their farewells for now, I closed the door and dimmed the lights, pulling up a chair beside them. I couldn't formulate any sort of sentence for a long while, listening to the beeping of the machine and my own heartbeat within my ears. After a long while, I spoke. "I should have told you about the child's behaviour on the moment you left. If I had, then you wouldn't have been in this situation now.", I sighed, looking out at the fields and the overcast skies. "Ever since that day you and I took down that.. beast, I wanted to do what I could to assist you in this life. But now, you're currently in a hibernation process and I'm still here." I turned my head away as I began to cry. "All I've done is wrought pain for you and those around you, a freak such as myself has no place here." I regained composure as I then thought coldly. "I'm sorry, but this is for the good of us both.", I whispered as I gently kissed the top of their head and left the room, barely keeping it together as I made my way down the hall leading to the exit.

Exhausted, Zacharius opens their eyes, finding themselves I'm the hospital bed. They sit up and look around, gazing out the window. The bees fly around gathering pollen from fully-blossomed flowers, children rush around and chase each other, and not a single cherry blossom remains on the trees. Aries gives a hushed gasp, covering their mouth with their fingertips. "Goodness, it's summer?"
The door opens as Aries ponders the moment, and Kase enters the room. "(Gasp) Zach?! Are you really awake?! Are you okay?" She rushes over and hugs the lieutenant.
"Yes, I think," Zacharius replies, rubbing their head as Kase squeezes then tight. "I had a strange dream, though, and that nap wasn't quite restful."
Kase slowly releases Zacharius with a look of sorrow. "You've been in a coma for 3 months."
"What?"
"There was a child who came to the camp. We thought she was in need of help, but she was actually Duran's niece and an assassin out to kill you. We caught her, but she had reinforcements surrounding us. She broke free. She fatally wounded you, but we put you into a coma to preserve your energy. With enough rest, you've overcome excorlix poisoning." Kase pauses before adding, "I'm really glad to have you back, sir."
"I—thank you, Kase...but..." Zacharius gazes down at their hand for a moment.
"What's wrong?"
"Why do I feel like somethings missing?..."
"The excorlix may have prohibited some of your abilities, but I'm sure retraining yourself will bring them back," Kase replies confidently.
"Hm," Aries quietly breathes. "Perhaps." Dissmissing the feeling, Aries climbs out of bed. "Kase, who was that child again?"
"Calipso," Kase replies.
Zacharius' ears lay back in horror as the final moment between them and the child flashes before them. Aries grits their teeth together. "The hair, the eyes, that face—I recall them perfectly..."
"She was a strange species—such like that other one that used to be here," Kase ponders aloud.
"'Other one?'," Aries questions.
"Just some passing foreigner," she says. "You don't recall? He stayed with you. His name slips my mind, though."
"I've let many 'passing foreigners' stay with me, mind you. Your statement does my memory no service."
"A human, was it?"
"A human? Witch-hunters. I never would've housed one. But I at least know what I'm looking for." Aries let's out a frustrated huff. "I've got to get back out there and put an end to that brat."
In a moment before Aries starts for the door, Kase grabs their hand. "Just be careful, okay? I really care about you, Zach," she finishes, blushing.
"I—yeah," Aries stammers, mind racing and lost in clouded memories. An image of a hand holding theirs flashes through their mind. They shake their head and smile warmly. "Thanks for always having my back."
"Of course."
Zacharius sets off towards the village. -
I had just returned from the coffee shop, finally putting it under new management as Pepper was adopted into a caring family. I felt rather.. sorrowful about not going back, but thought it was in best interest not to go back. They despised me, of which I knew, so if they did wake up, a story would've been fabricated saying I was likely a bad person. It's what I was used to by this point. As I made my way around the block, I noticed that there was a gathering of people, lifting my curiosity as I made my way towards them. I then spied- "Aries...?" I gazed as they walked around outside, likely the first time in months. I felt incredibly lost in love, but I noticed they were gazing at my direction, knowing it would have been best to go. I was just glad they were awake.
