"'Demon'," Zacharius repeats, slightly disheartened. "That was my natural form... I hide my horns and tail with the use of a manipulation spell to change how I look. Far too many times, I've been called a demon far too many times. I just wish to be known as I am."
Zacharius then stands up, gripping their arms and walking some distance away from Revelation, solemnly gazing down at the ground." -
I looked up in sorrow, feeling remorseful about what they experienced. I slowly stood up and gazed over to them, making my way a distance away. "I didn't know.. I apologize for my bringing it up.", I began as I sighed quietly. I chuckled as I tapped their shoulder gently. "But I find it wicked as hell. The true you is the one I fell for. Powers and all."
-
"I am flattered, truly," Zacharius says, nodding softly. "Just being able to spend this moment with you is an honor. You certainly are wonderful, yourself, and I—well, I've taken interest in you quite easily and deeply. I cannot wait to spend our lives together when you awaken. Tell me, what is the first thing you will do once you awaken?"
-
"I, too, am enjoying this moment that we have with each other. It's not often that we have a moment of reflection, or just sharing our emotions." I thought for a moment, then chuckled. "If I am able to stand, and if we are nearby, I wish to be able to hold you and.." I turned away, hiding my reddening face as I smiled warmly. "Give you a kiss", I finished,
-
"By the time you awaken, we shall both be healed. I landed my mending magic to you, taking some of your pain as my own. You should be healed well enough, while my wing my still be a bit unwell. It's nothing that won't recover within time. Now then," Zacharius says, tilting their head with a warm smile and inquisitive but coaxing eyes, "would you like to wake up?"
-
I smiled warmly, closing my eyes as I decided. "I'm ready. I would like to return to the real world.", I said, looking up to the sky, a look of determination planted on my face. I could only hope that the future lay less uncertainties, now the biggest threat was annihilated completely.
-
"Then we shall go," Zacharius says, smiling.
Before the two, the world of warmth and cherry blossoms dissipates into a wavy hallucination, and everything turns dark.
When Revelation awakens, he is propped up in a bed. The room is dark, only fimly lit by the setting moon's light, as the sun begins to rise for another day.
Snoring arises from the corner of the room, by the window. Glistening olive-green hair is draped over the side of a cozy chair, trialing along the floor for five feet, and underneath the thin bangs are two closed eyes, peacefully resting. Aries rests in the chair horizontally with their left arm hanging off the front of the seat and their legs dangling off the other armrest. As they sleep the early morning away, Aries is cradled by their own feathered wings. -
Witnessing the scene before me, I couldn't help but chuckle. They just looked so... cute. I slowly sat myself up to try to wake them, but instantly felt uncomfortable. I lifted the sheet up to find my leg was properly wrapped up in a cast, yet it felt so... numb. I lay back down, shuffling myself to look toward the window and watch a new dawn arise. Sighing quietly, I could only think to myself as I felt the weariness of everything slowly drift me to sleep.
-
Sunlight shines in through the window, several hours later, and the sound of sizzling floats through the air, accompanied by a delicious smell. But also carried by the wind is the sound of a dispute as two voices go back and forth.
Downstairs, Zacharius is making breakfast as Kase stands by their side.
Kase folds her arms. "Listen, Zach. I'm glad you were able to save that—whatever he is and all, but you CAN'T let him stay here. You know he doesn't belong. Mind you, he's almost died twice because of you."
Zacharius' golden eyes dart away from Kase with a glare. "I didn't ask for your opinion. Besides, it's up to Revelation if he would like to stay or leave. You know I don't discriminate. Yes, we have enemies, but I assure you he is not one of them. fast because he isn't a Darkavonian doesn't mean he's dangerous or incapable of living here."
"Still," Kase snaps, "You need to get rid of him. We don't know where he came from or what his end goal is. And I know you see him as a friend, but—" Kase stops abruptly when she sees Aries' wings flutter and cheeks turn red. "No," she lowly says in disbelief before repeating herself in panic and shock. "No, no, no! You can't actually tell me that you—Zach! You know you can't be with him, right? It's dangerous to have hybrid offspring especially since you don't even know what he is!"
Aries scoffs. "Don't be ridiculous, Kase! I just admire him."
Kase sighs in relief. "That's good. I'm just—really worried for you, you know?"
Aries sorrowfully looks down. "Y-yeah. I know."
Kase puts one hand on Aries' shoulder and takes hold of their hand with the other. "You mean a lot to me, Zach, and I just want to keep you safe."
"Thanks," Zacharius forces out, disheartened.
"I have to go on patrol, but I'll catch up with you later." Planting a quick kiss on Aries' cheek, Kase then sets off for the day, leaving Zacharius in sorrow. -
Thing. It. That's how I was to them all, huh? "Maybe I should've let myself be stabbed in a vital area instead of the leg.", I thought to myself as I quietly hobbled my way back to the bed, glancing out the window. Though the smell was tantalizing, I really didn't feel like eating as of this moment and just felt distraught. " Was it all worth it? Was I going to be alone in my shack, dying a cold, lonely death?", I whispered quietly and looked to my amulet, growling quietly.
-
Just then, Zacharius slowly nudges the door open, bringing a plate towards Revelation while keeping a caring gaze on him, but able to sense his aura, they stop and place the plate on the nightstand beside him, frowning and taking a seat by his side. They bring their hand to under his chin, gently lifting his head up. "I promise you won't be alone. Though it may be safest to keep it between us, for now, by this time next month, I assure you...you will never be alone again," Aries finishes warmly, gazing into Revelation's eyes.
-
Gazing into their eyes, I couldn't help but to feel a sense of pain and guilt around them. "I fear that me even being around you right at this moment could lead you into mortal peril. That, and I wonder if your life may improve with someone of your species instead of..." I turned away sadly, trying not to break. "Just an 'it'.", I finished as I sighed quietly, not daring to meet their gaze.
-
"You cannot change my mind," Zacharius says sternly. "My heart burns for you stronger than the depths of Hades. You are all I desire in this lonely life. I've never longed for love or even someone to stay by my side, but since I met you, I've been dying to know if you would be that person. I only know my biggest mistake would be letting you go. So please, stay in my life. I would be honored if you did, and I swear I'll take care of you until my final breath," Zacharius says, taking their pointer finger and crossing their forehead. "Cross my heart."
-
I took a deep breath and composed myself again.
-
"I'm sorry about my constant states of despair. I'm not used to anyone being there. All of my life, I've been alone with not a single soul to even check on me. Only got a job thanks to those ear moulds, and still no one would even approach me. Forgive me.", I sighed as I just felt awful.
