"It's alright, my love," Aries states softly with a small, warm-hearted smile. "Life is hard, but I assure you from this day forward, you will never be alone again."
A month passes by since that day until a certain night where the sky is clear and the moon is bright. A gentle breeze brings the cherry blossoms off the branches and swirls them around, sending them dancing until they febtly rest on the dew-tipped grass.
Slowly, the steps of an individual make there way toward the clearing, spotting a silhouette in the moonlight. Their black shoes fall softly on the ground with each step. Their olive-green hair flows out from behind them as they advance, save for the messy bun styled at the back of the top of their head.
When they meet the middle of the cherry blossom grove, Zacharius comes to a stop and stands in the moonlight wearing a black tuxedo, nervously fidgeting with their white-gloved hands. Aries looks to the left to find Captain Kholer standing with a softened gaze and gentle nod at them. "I'm proud of you, kid."
Zacharius' cheeks turn red and they dart their eyes over to the silhouette before them, holding their breath. -
Nervousness. Worry. Fear. The three emotions that were plaguing me and my stomach intensely whilst I adjusted my tie anxiously. It seemed like just yesterday that I met this strange, dorky little individual, fought to save this land, and nearly gave my life up for them numerous times. But, I felt happy. Content. Safe. Turning my gaze around, I flashed a smile warmly towards them.
-
Stumbling over their words, Zacharius addresses Revelation, standing before him. "Y-you look—uh, you're—I—wow," Aries ends in a lovestruck whisper, ears drooping as their eyes glisten. "Never before has my heart felt so overwhelmed with emotion. I want to speak, but I can't believe I'm in this moment. And you," they say, grabbing Revelation's hands. Almost unable to contain themselves, Aries leans in for a kiss, pulling Revelation towards them.
"Hold your horses, Zach," Kholer interjects, laughing and startling Aries; Zacharius releases Revelation's hands and nudges him away, face turning red. "You still have to give your vows."
"Ah, haha. Right," Aries nervously laughs, then turning to Revelation. "Sh-shall I go first or—?" -
Holding back a chuckle, I couldn't help but to smirk as I plucked up as much courage as I mustered. Clearing my throat, I held their hands in my own. "I may not have been in your life for as long as most of the people you know, but I know that within the short time we've known each other, I feel like I've known you my entire existence. Whether it was our first encounter in my café, or our little sparring sessions outside of my workshop, I am honoured to have known you at all.", I paused impressively. "I wish. My wish and my own vows are to grow older with you, learn more about everything with you by my side, and eventually, maybe start a family of little ones with you. Would this be okay?"
-
"I—of course. I would be honored," Zacharius shyly replies before saying their vows. "Revelation Penumbra, when I saw you, I knew there was something special about you. Though I was a bit aggressive at our first encounter, it was the curiosity of your aura that led me to you. Though our kinds are different, are hearts our one. Though I haven't known you all my life, I feel like I've known you three lifetimes over. Though you feel you have no place in the world, your place is in my heart, and you are always welcome there. Just say you'll be mine, in return, for my heart longs to be with you so that we may never be alone again."
-
I held their hands in my own, feeling as safe as I could be. "I know that we're from different species, but I know that I feel more at home with you the last bit than I was ever in my cabin. And I would be honored to be yours until the day my soul leaves this body." I smiled, gently cupping their cheek.
-
Smiling, Captain Kholer begins to speak. "Then with the two of you before me, in this very night, I ask you to swear before me tonight that you will take care of each other in sickness and health, good times and bad, until the very end."
"I swear to you and every life in this existence," Zacharius states, holding Revelation's hands. "I will take care of you, as your partner no matter what." -
"From now until forevermore, I pledge myself to be yours until everything in the multiverse crumbles to dust. I love you, Zacharius Lindsay Ulbritch.", I said, feeling assertive in my own decision. "In sickness and health, little or no wealth."
-
Kholer carries on. "Then with the power invested in me, I now pronounce you husband and spouse. You may kiss the—"
Before Kholer can finish, Zacharius pulls Revelation towards themselves and kisses him.
Kholer smiles warmly, watching the two embrace. Sighing, he revels in the moment. "I never thought I'd see my child get married," he lowly says in awe. -
Feeling lost in their embrace, I couldn't help but to chuckle quietly. My life, up until months ago, was basically nonexistent. But through hardships and pain, I finally felt I had meaning. And that was what I needed. I pulled them close as I gently kissed them, wanting to show them just how I meant to love them.
-
"Well?" the old captain asks. "What are you two kids still doing here? Get out of here. Enjoy your new life as a couple, and get some rest. It's 1am," he ends jokingly. "But, first," he says. Kholer walks up to Revelation and embraces him with a huge smile, briefly lifting him off the ground in a bear hug. "Take good care of them. You understand me," he quietly tells Revelation, glancing past him and watching Aries gaze up at the moon.
-
I felt rather lightweight as I was lifted up in a hug, chuckling quietly as I adjusted my glasses. "I promise to show them as much compassion, care and love as they've shown me.", I promised as I placed a fist above my heart. I looked over to them and slowly made my way next to them, looking up at the moon in silence.
-
Zacharius plays with flowers in their hands, twirling the stems between their fingers. They begin to speak softly, still keeping their eyes on their flowers. "I think a good night's rest is in order. It is quite late. Although, I'm not certain how we are to sleep when the excitement of a new life boils deep within me. There's so much to do, so much to see—I can hardly contain myself and I cannot wait to see what lies ahead. Though the future may be uncertain, I'm certain that no matter what, even if we end up miles away, we'll always find our way back to each other." Pausing, Zacharius turns around to face Revelation. "Remember, I will always be with you," they finish handing Revelation a flower. "As this flower never dies, such is my love and dedication towards you."
-
I gazed thoughtfully at the little flower I held in my hand. Such fragility, I could easily crush the poor thing, but I carefully placed it in the cuff of my glove. I knelt beside them and had an idea, but felt rather nervous about my first attempt. Gently gathering many flowers, I began to weave some materials together, making sure they fit snugly and securely. After a minute, I held the finished crown in my hand, satisfied with my handiwork. I carefully placed it atop their head, adjusting it so it looked nice. "Perfect.", I chuckled and smirked. "You seem one with nature most of the time, I think a crown befitting you was rightfully necessary. "
-
Zacharius smiles warmly. "You have my gratitude." Grabbing hold of Revelation's hand, Zacharius then sets off to go home with their newly-acquired husband, reveling in the beauty of the night.
Time passes as the two enjoy their life together, and months later, Revelation resides in Zacharius' home. Though most of the villagers have grown used to Revelation's presence, some are still weary of him. However, with the offer of Captain Kholer, Revelation receives a job training the younger generation in swordsmanship while Zacharius continues to aid Kholer on the battlefield as second-in-command.
Aries happily watches from a distance as Revelation slowly shows the young teens how to swing a sword gracefully. Once the room of students get the idea, they all pile on top of Revelation, trying to get a hit on him with their dull training swords. Though the children try their best, not a single one can land a hit. Then, the sun hits a square tile on the wall, and the title changes from pink to yellow, indicating noon. The light from the tile reflects into the room, tinting the entire area yellow. The students disperse at once to go eat lunch.
"Haha," Aries chuckles in delight, slowly approaching Revelation. "Your reflexes are sharp, but your form could use some work," they say, then drawing their sword from their back and swinging it around as they spin and dodge in one fluid motion. "Your actions should be seamless so you don't show your enemies what you plan to do next." Aries then sheathes their sword and lightly pokes Revelation's nose. "Your clunky movement is quite cute, though," they tease.
