I looked around in wonder and humour, noting exactly how the home looked just like my little shack. "You've nothing to worry about. I've lived in a situation just like this the past seven years.", I chuckled as I stood inside the doorway. "And.. Thank you.", I thought, setting a plan into motion whenever they left next.
-
"I'll have to head out tomorrow for training, but I'll be back soon enough. Don't worry. While I'm gone, stay out of trouble, alright? Also, if you check out the town, I would advise wearing your hood. The less they see, the more peaceful your time will be. And I apologize for the inconvenienc."
-
I nodded in understanding, then began to think. I wanted to thank them for all they've done since we met, and I had quite a few ideas in mind. "I understand. I do have a portable solution to the problem of my ears, but the technology is medieval at best.", I mused as I looked around. "May I?" I gestured to the fireplace, which looked sooty and covered under a thin layer of dust.

"Oh? Um—of course," Aries replies, a bit confused. "Though, as I've said before, my house is—"
A loud banging on the door interrupts Zacharius as they speak. Startled and concerned by the familiar knocking, Aries rushes to the door, answering it. Not to their surprise, a soldier stands at the door, holding a sharpend lance. "Captain Kholer has requested you for backup. He and his men have been trapped by the snowslide in the mountains, on the western side. He needs you to lead an emergency battalion to head off the bandits before they reach the village."
"But, what about Kholer," Aries questions, worry showing in their eyes.
"He said to not worry about him. He and his men have already started digging their way out and making a path down the mountain. He'll meet up with you once he's free."
Bowing their head for a moment, Aries sighs, closing their eyes. Then, they open their eyes back with a stern gaze and affirmative nod. "Right. Gather the others and tell them to be ready to head out by dusk."
"Yes, sir." The soldier salutes Aries and marches off to carry out orders. Zacharius closes the door, sighing again and turning to Revelation. "I apologize. There are bandits coming this way, and I must take care of the situation. I'll likely be gone for a few days, but I do hope you'll be alright." -
I felt my heart pound out of fear. I had known of those voices before. They both had ventured a little too close once before, and I had to leave my first hut entirely. After they had left, I felt my heartbeat normalize and breathed a sigh of relief, then to the matter at hand. "I'll take care of here. The world needs you, and you must take charge. I hope you'll return. There will be a surprise when you do.", I said with a chuckle and a wink.
-
Aries chuckles. "Don't worry. As long as you're with me, you're in no danger. I do hold the whole army at the tips of my fingers, only second to the captain. But, that's enough about me. And, I assure you, you have nothing to worry about. I never die before completing a mission. You will see me again."
-
"Good." I wrapped my arms around their waist with a cheeky smirk. "I'd hate to be left here without company.", I chuckled, knowing full well that I had something I wanted to do before they left.
-
Aries hugs Revelation and gives him a kiss. "I will see you when I get back, honey. For now, I must get the troops together." With that, Zacharius sets out, though not without sorrow for leaving Revelation. They leave at dusk with troops and remain in battle for three days.
-
"Until we meet again, Sparrow.", I sighed as I looked at the messiness of the few rooms. " Alright. Time to get to it." I proceeded to begin cleaning up most of the weapons and sharpen the blades, setting them onto the table until I fix or remake most of the shelves....
-
Late in the evening, three days later, as the rain begins, a sudden commotion erupts not too far from the house. Just outside is a group of soldiers clamoring frantically, looking as if they are in deep distress and at a loss.
-
I had just been awoken by the sounds of boots amongst the ground, wracking my nerves a bit. I carefully put on my hood and stood outside until they approached. "Whatever has happened?", I asked to the first soldier who would listen to me.
-
"Nothing good. The Kateris ambushed us and scattered our men," a young, purple-haired, silver-eyed woman states. "What's worse is that they have Lieutenant Ulbritch, and we're still waiting for Captain Kholer to return..."
-
"I see..", I uttered gravely. I turned around, grabbed a pair of earphones that looked like natural ears, put them on, and locked the door. "Lead the way.", I ushered, unsheathing my blade. "Schieße! I knew something like this would happen.", I lowly growled as I followed them, ready to bring the fight that was boiling within me.
-
"But, I'm not authorized to lead a team. I'm only a corporal. The captain would be livid if he found out that I willy-nilly went off with the few soldiers we have here. I'd be breaking protocol and I'd risk my job and—ugh! Oh, forget it! That's my best friend out there, stranded by themself and in the hands of a witch slayer." Jumping up onto a horse, the lady then looks down at Revelation. "My name is Kase, by the way, and I hope you know how to ride a horse. I'm not going to let Zach die."
-
I sneered beneath my mask, being as completely serious as I could be. "That's more than a friend to myself. I had hoped when they left that I would not have to deal with this, but I will give my life to save them.", I explained as I looked at the horse, uncertain on how to answer. "I'm going to be honest. I've never been around horses. I lived-" I stopped myself before I could give away any info and just hopped on the horse.
