"It gets a bit more lively in the morning. Hustle and bustle abound and whatnot.", I chuckled and smiled. Upon glancing at the clock, I nodded in understanding, but felt disappointed they had to leave. "Of course. You owe nothing. This one's on the house.", I explained as I felt a small weight on my boot. Pepper had fallen asleep next to my foot, and I would not be leaving at any point soon. I smiled and looked towards Aries with a look of hope. Maybe they were one of the few I could rely upon. "I hope you have a pleasant night, and safer travels!"
-
"On the house? I—" Zacharius' cheeks grow warm, but they look away. "Well, if you insist. I thank you for your hospitality, and I hope you rest well," they say, then slipping out from the building.
-
"Of course. I hope the very same for you.", I said, giving them a salute. I smirked as I notice them hide their face before they left the shop, leaving me with much to think about as I picked up a newspaper and wait if any customers show up. "Could be just us again, little Pep. And I'm okay with that."
-
Days later, Zacharius was accompanying their fellow soldiers, returning from training. After taking a 5 mile run, Zacharius leeaves the group to take some time to themself. Walking through the bushes and around the cherry blossom trees, Aries kicks at the melting slush left over from last week's snow. They come out into their familiar clearing and take a seat in the middle of the area, closing their eyes and taking a deep breath in. Then, their blades strapped to their back and sides disappear as they put their hands behind their head and fall back into the fresh grass, gazing up at the cherry blossoms falling from the trees.
-
"Done." I stood back and wiped my forehead, gazing at the machine in content and curiosity. I had just built a machine designed to swing a hunk of metal for parrying practice, in training for if I were to be indicted for war. As much as I was against it, I do think sometimes that I could use it as an excuse for when I need to get stronger. I held up a tiny remote to turn it on and activated my relic, holding my hand steady while the blade formed. I had no idea on how loud it would be, so I jumped at first as the scraping metal roared to life. "First test. Let's dance!"
-
"Ah! What is he doing," Zacharius asked themself. "And that relic in his arm...it forges a blade, just like my magic? I wonder if the relic has some sort of Weaponcraft within. Or perhaps it is man-made? Either way, it is quite interesting..."
Zacharius slowly creeps closer, watching Revelation test his new creation with curiosity. -
The behemoth of steel lifted its blade and rapidly swung down on me, almost as soon as the blade formed. "Damn. Any other second and I'd have been maimed.", I thought as I held it above my head, sliding back down the dirt way and keeping my footing. Upon pushing the blade a bit away as I grabbed it in fury, I threw the mechanized beast as far as I could, which was only fifteen feet. "Wow. I.. Damn.", I chuckled, panting breathlessly and falling onto my knee.
-
"Incredible," Zacharius breathes, warping closer in a cloud of darkness and reappearing under a tree to get a closer look. Aries watches sternly, mesmerized by the battle, but soon sensing something a bit off. "Hm?" They look up to the machine, cautiously watching its every move, and as they do, Aries' hands begin emanating darkness, and they bring their palms close together. The longer they watch, the more tense they become until they spawn their blade and dash straight for the mechanism.
-
I had somehow managed to take it down. And my first go, nonetheless! I had not noticed, but the beast had slowly begun to move under its own accord. I carefully stood up again and looked to see that it had become fully upright and was about to swing its blade down again. "Crumbs..", I muttered as it began to attack, closing my eyes and holding my blade above again.
-
"HNNNNNUGH,"Zacharius roars, flying in front of Revelation and striking their sword against the machine's. The force of Zacharius' parry was so strong that it knocked the blade out of the beast's grasp. Aries drops to their knees, panting and resting their sword before them. As they sit there for a moment, their olive-green hair messing tumbles down into their face, and through the strands, they glance back over their shoulder and see Revelation watching. "I apologize for interfering. I just... Are you okay?"
-
"Loch's sake!", I shouted as I witnessed it fall over again, this time shutting it down completely. I regained my footing and extended my hand to help them up, feeling quite worried about their safety. "I am perfectly okay. Are you? That was some insane power!", I mused as I gently brushed the hair out of their eyes.
-
"I'm alright," Zacharius lowly responds, blushing as Revelation's hand lightly brushes across their face. Aries takes a lock of hair and places it back over their right eye. "And, that was nothing. Just 12 years of military training. Nothing special.
Now then, what were you thinking, building this thing?! You don't look like you've been trained with a blade in the least bit. Throwing your life in danger, like that was the most foolish thing you could think to do," Zacharius scolds, poorly masking their worry in their voice. -
I smirked, then chuckled, then erupted into laughter. "If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were worried about me!" After studying their facial expressions, I nodded once and concluded my findings. "You really were worried, weren't you?", I asked, feeling a bit shameful for laughing. I looked into their eyes with sincerity as I smiled warmly. "I'm okay. I promise."
-
"I'm sorry. I was just so concerned. You really don't have any business swinging a sword around with such poor form." Afterbtaking a moment, Zacharius realizes they may have come off bluntly. Softening their gaze, they reach out to Revelation, lightly touching his hand for just a moment. "Would you like for me to show you how to efficiently use a sword?"
-
I chuckled quietly as I held their hand, a small blush rising to my face. "I'd enjoy that immensely. And.. thank you.", I said with a reassuring smile, feeling the same feeling from a few days ago. "Again? Perhaps I need some rest. Odd it's happened twice in one week and with them..", I mused to myself. I helped them up, watching their hair flow in the gentle breeze, the sun sparkling off their eyes. I felt.. entranced by them. They looked like they held so many stories, so many memories..
