The wind had been fairly steady, but in a sudden blast, a gust of wind blows by, rattling the door. The bell attached to the door rings out, and the door creaks open, slamming back from the wind.
A shadow seems to slither across the floor, climbing up the wall and into a corner, almost appearing to stare down at the man in his workplace. -
Glancing up slightly as I settle the water into the pot, I flicked the switch to turn it on and eerily felt the hairs on my neck stand upright. "Damn it. The furnace should still be working.", I thought as I then noticed the bell swaying slightly. " Hello, patrons-" No one was here. "Maybe I do need more of this..", I muttered as I pulled out two containers labeled 'cream' and 'sugar'. Carefully making my drink, I took a sip and froze up completely.
-
Slithering down the wall like a snack, the shadow settles behind the man, growing completely golden eyes, sharpened and fixed on him. The shadow itself takes the form of some unknown terror—a demonic entity.

"What a irksome disposition." I reached under the counter and grabbed a dagger from the compartment, slightly turning to the beast behind me. Golden eyes seemed to stare into my soul, either in fascination, or intent to harm. I flipped the dagger and slashed in front of it, purely from curiosity.
-
"Aaagh!" the shadow cries out, shooting across the wall, jumping down onto the floor, and standing up to take the appearance of a slender silhouette. The shadow takes form into an elfin-like creature, revealing themself to be Zacharius once more. Aries then spawns their sword, spreading out two blackened feather wings behind them. In the blink of an eye, they jump into the air and dive right for the man with a single slash of the sword. However, the man leans back just enough to appear to either miss the blade or get skimmed by the very tip. Then, Zacharius vanishes in a could of darkness, reappearing in front of the door to the building, panting and holding a firm battle stance. But underneath the grimace and threatening glare, they struggle to stifle their frightened, choppy breaths and hide their trembling. Nevertheless, Zacharius remains in a position ready to attack, lowly growling as their trembling becomes more noticable. Though they stand in the shadows, blood glistens on their cheek from a fresh cut.
-
Quickly dodging the entity's blade, I quickly regained my footing, watching as the figure slid out of the shop. I held my dagger in front of me, catching my breath whilst a thought occurred to me. Who was it, and why were they after me? I shook my head, put my dagger away, and grabbed my first-aid kit, stopping to see the figure who had attempted to visit me was.. taking nervous breaths? I wanted to try to get to the bottom of this, and gathering all of my courage, I opened the door slowly, peeking my head out. "Hey. Care to come inside for a moment?"
-
Zacharuis backs away, keeping their eyes fixed on the man and sword readied for battle. Startled more from the encounter, they remain silent, unwilling to come any closer.
-
"That scratch on your cheek can get infected if you leave it untreated. May you please step inside?", I asked as I felt calmer about this situation. Nothing really phased me about this world until a few moments ago, and I was ready to assist them, especially with a wound from a blade.
-
Seeing that the man is no longer a threat, Zacharius reluctantly puts away their sword, making it vanish in a dark cloud. With a low growl, Aries slowly approaches him.
-
"Kindly refrain from growling, even though it's warranted.", I sighed as I gently pulled them inside. I reached a shelf and pulled out some peroxide and a was of tissue. " Now, this may sting a tiny bit, but it'll eliminate the infection.", I explained as I approached their wound.
-
Aries' eyes shoot open and dart down to the man's hands as he rests them on their arm. "What are you—" Their cheeks turn red, flustered and confused as the man then cleanes Zacharius' wound. Feeling a sudden sting from the cut, they wince but try to mask it.
-
Slightly jumping back from their reaction, I almost grabbed a spray bottle to distract them. "I did warn you.", I chuckled as I cleaned the cut to where it was okay. Their cheeks felt quite warm as I sprayed a bit of water, getting rid of a bit of dust that had accumulated over a bit. "Alright. You're good." I tossed the tissue in the bin and returned the bottle to the shelf before I stopped. "I know this will sound weird, but would you mind some tea?"
-
Zacharius darts their eyes away from his just as quickly as the two's gazes meet as the man finishes cleaning their wound. Raising a brow and backing away as soon as he finishes, Zacharius replies in a low, hesitant voice. "You...want me to have tea with you?... I..."
-
"Well, it's a gesture. I mean, *Ahem* I did cause your unfortunate wound. My apologies, by the way.", I said, rubbing the back of my head whilst chuckling. "That, and.." I glanced towards the entrance and dining area. "No one seems to want to show up.", I sighed as I looked at the clock. Another four hours of this and I was homeward bound. "If you wish not, that's alright."
