When the bell rang, Liam only gave a wave to say goodbye before hurrying out of the lunchroom to find his next class, creative writing. If it was anything like the Montana class, the course would be the perfect outlet over the accident that had occurred. His mind was swarming with everything that could have happened to his friend. He pulled his schedule from his pocket, and suddenly it was like the morning all over again. There he was, lost and seeking out a classroom that seemed hopeless to find. He was going to be late and he would have no way to explain himself. He wished he could have Blue with him, guiding him around. He wished that he hadn't had to suffer with the disgusting side effects of whatever medication he'd taken.
Students were entering their classrooms and an eye put towards a nearby clock revealed that he had only one minute. He could tell that he was in the same place at he had been in the morning. He could feel his hands link together and his thumbs begin to twiddle, another habit he had when anxiety took over. His nose was twitching furiously and an exasperated breath escaped his lips. He looked at the room again. D-12, D-12, D-12. A whistle in the distance caught and stole his full attention.
He turned around, the from the morning coming into view. He stiffened, performing a one-eighty in the chance that he would start to run.
"Wait!" the orange haired boy's voice called. "Where's your buddy?" Liam only clenched his fists, walking straight ahead and turning into the next empty hallway. The echoes, he could hear the echoes. He bolted, running through the halls as if all of the monsters of the world were closing in on them. He could hear them, hear them forming a plan to corner him off. He wouldn't allow it top happen.
As he flew throughout the school, a room's number plate took his focus. He slid to a stop, gasping. D-12. He entered the classroom just as the bell rang out. The teacher flicked his head in the boy's direction. He was also young, appearing as though he was only around twenty six or twenty seven. Liam gave a bob of the head, going to find a desk.
"Actually, Liam..." The teacher began, gesturing for the door. Liam's face turned into one of confusion as they both exited.
Once they were safe and outside, the man stated, "As much as I would like for you to stick around, you're being dismissed. I have seen some of your poems and stories from your class in Montana. I love them! Oh, hey! Write a horror story. Lemme see what you got! See ya on Monday, Liam!" The man pat his shoulder, leaving Liam alone in the hall.
The boy took off in the relative direction of the main office. -
Good
Ugh my heart holes
Blue hated the doctor's office. He hated their droning questions, their fakes expressions of concern and sympathy. He hated the way he was being looked at as if he was an injured deer. He needed no sympathy. He deserved no concern. Blue wished for a time when he could remain completely under the radar. He didn't want to be bothered by those who expressed fake compassion for himself. They hadn't met him; how could they act as if they knew him so well? To them, he was a number, a file, a face. He wasn't a three dimensional, living, breathing human being. He wasn't treated like they treated their family.
The doctor came back in, a solemn look on his face. "Blue, you have a limited amount of offers. You can take the institution, go to a rehab facility, join a support group, or see your psychiatrist more often and be monitored throughout the day. I talked to your mother. She expressed concern for you, Blue." Blue grumbled a few words of frustration to himself. "There's nothing wrong with me, sir. I can't help how I am."
"Blue, you're mentally ill. It's in your genetics. We need you to get rid of depression so we can focus on your hypersomnia." Blue couldn't argue with what the doctor said. He knew depression would worsen his hypersomnia. But one does not simply get rid of depression, just as one does not simply walk into Mordor. He made a small smile at this thought.
"Blue, you have to be honest with us. You'll be given a piece of paper with a series of questions. They will be asking you about your past and such. And we will have to give those to your friends, too, to ensure you're not lying to us."
"What kind of questions?" The boy looked nervous.
"Questions about your depression."
There was a silence. Blue felt like he could pass out again. This was until he was informed Rose and Liam would arrive soon, then he had to choke down a giggle of joy.

YOU KNOW EXACTLY HOW
As soon as Liam found the front office, he entered it to find his father and an older, graying woman with light wrinkles tainting her face. She adjusted her wire glasses, giving a sad wave towards Liam. Something about the mood in the air forced his brain to jump to the conclusion that Blue was worse than he'd expected. He could feel his breathing heightening, his face grow grave, his body becoming wracked with trembles.
His father hurriedly told him, "Everything is alright, Liam. In fact, Mrs. Gunther, this kind woman here, has informed me that, mm, Blue, was it? Yes, your friend asked for you to visit him in the hospital." The older man's eyes were soft with worry. "Mama was going to take you, but she got called into work, so I'm going to, alright?" Liam slid his schedule into his back pocket, nodding. "Oh, I brought Paxton. I thought you would need him." The younger's face lit up. His father knew him better than anybody, it seemed. He was also overjoyed as Paxton was a service dog, he could take him into the hospital and allow Blue to meet him.
His father led him out of the building. The rain had settled into a light drizzle. Rumbles still sounded every now and again, but his father had draped an arm around him to let him know he was safe. Once they were at the green vehicle that had dropped him off, Liam climbed into the the passenger seat.
Paxton let out a bark, plodding and jumping into Liam's lap. He curled up, settling his head against the boy's stomach. Liam pulled his seatbelt on, chuckling. His dad started the car, pulling out of the school's parking lot. As he drove, he would glance over at his son, who had leaned against the window and closed his eyes. He was gently stroking Paxton, a good sign that he most definitely was truly upset and their friendly companion was soothing him. He shook his head, putting some more speed into the drive in order to arrive at the hospital quicker. -
Ye ye
They're the literal only hope for one another
Blue sighed at the options he was being given. He didn't want to answer more questions, either. He was then given a clipboard with various questions on it and lines to answer. There were twenty questions, he realized.
Have you ever attempted suicide?
Yes.
How many days a week do you feel sad?
4-6 days a week.
What is the main cause to your depression, do you feel?
My medication. My family. Bullies.
Have you ever self harmed?
Yes.
How much do you sleep per day, on average?
14-16 hours.
Does your family have a history of bipolar disorder, suicide or other mental illness?
Yes. And so on. The remaining questions involved if he abused drugs often, and if so, whether they were prescribed or contraband. They also asked about his daily activities and vitamin intake. They also asked if he had been abused or bullied. Blue answered all completely honestly, as he didn't want Liam or Rose to have to answer such questions about him. Not that Liam would know the answers.
He really hated having to dragging Liam into all of this, even on the first day of knowing the boy. He hoped didn't get the idea that Blue had mental issues or was a psycho. He wanted to apologize for dragging him into this. He felt terrible. Blue's eyes began to water, and a single tear of guilt ran down his cheek. Oh, he just wanted to wrap the boy in his arms and never let go. -Wait, what? -
YES
thats so beautiful
-Wait, what? AYEEEEE LES GO BOI
Within a matter of a couple of minutes, the van was being parked in the visitor's parking lot. Liam adjusted Paxton's service vest, sliding the boy's identification card into the slot along the side. He and his parent exited the car after the sixteen year old hooked Paxton's leash onto the vest. They exchanged a nod and took off, soon gliding through the front entrance. Hospitals were something Liam knew all too well thanks to his Uncle. He couldn't count on two hands how many times he'd been in one. No matter what, however, his parents never allowed the hospital to keep the man in their custody. Liam feared that the doctors would try to do the same thing to Blue.
Paxton rubbed against the boy's leg as his father checked them in. The secretary had already been made aware of the fact that they would be arriving, and immediately gave them the room number and visitor tags. She warned that they may not be permitted to enter just yet, but to wait in the second floor visitor's room if they couldn't. They found the nearest elevator, making their ascension. Liam picked Paxton up, holding him close and tightly. The dog nuzzled his head in the crook of his owner's neck.
Liam was scared. He wondered what condition Blue was in. He had been horrible in terms of helping him and he was going to apologize for that. Paxton seemed like he was in a great mood, and Liam assumed that he would be awesome once he was in the same room with his friend. The elevator doors slid open. The two took a few minutes to find the room. Once they did, it was revealed the the mahogany door was shut tight. His father knocked calmly. -
Pretty much took that from an MCR song
YERSH I KNOW
Rose wasn't too far from the hospital. She decided to drive herself, as both of her parents were at work. She was fairly capable at driving and was quite safe. She had earned her license easily, without fail. She was extremely worried about the friend she had known for so long. Rose was mainly going to be attending to help Liam and Blue communicate, but of course, she was concerned for Blue as well.
Blue gave the doctor the form. "Don't give them it, please?" He begged, "I don't want them to worry about me." It was true. "I was completely honest, I swear." The doctor didn't respond. He sighed quietly to himself. A moment of silence. "Liam will see you now. Rose is on her way." He nodded.
"Can I have a pad of paper and a pen?" He asked, "For Liam?" The doctor nodded, opened the door for Liam and his dad, and rushed off to get the pen and paper.
Blue, not aware of his dreadful appearance, managed a small smile for Liam. He wanted to seem as sane as possible, but he didn't want to lie to Liam about what happened. And one question that really buzzed in his mind, was certainly beginning to bug him. Did I really attempt suicide? He blinked a few times, confused at the prospect. Did he truly want to die, or did he believe the more the merrier? His mind, fuzzy from earlier, was unable to give an able response. They had him on an IV for fluid, but no drugs. So why was he so woozy? The boy frowned for a second, before remembering he had guests in his presence. -
which one ?
GAAAAAHHHH
Liam clomped over to the hospital bed, taking a seat right at the end and setting Paxton in his lap. He observed Blue's appearance for a short while, his hand subconsciously stroking Paxton's coat of fur. He let out a shaky breath, using his hand to invite his father over. He rushed to his son's side. Liam signed some statement to the man, and he immediately turned to Blue.
"He asked if you are okay." The elder sat in a nearby, cushiony seat so that he would be there if Liam needed to use sign language. He crossed his leg over the other, bringing a hand up to cover his own mouth. He wondered what had actually occurred between the two, why Liam was so torn up about him. A thought crossed his mind. He'd known that his offspring was attracted to boys since he was ten. Perhaps he'd found some sort of attraction to the other that was unavoidable? It wasn't a farfetched idea. When he had fallen in love with the boy's mother, it had been on the first date. He just knew that they were destined to grow old together.
He grinned sadly at the thought. Liam waited patiently for a response. He did not want to rush Blue into doing anything that he didn't want to. He figured that he'd already been through all too much, and by asking questions, he prayed that he wasn't exacerbating the entire situation. -
The only hope for me is you cx
"I'm alright. Turns out I almost died today." Blue said, shrugging. "I'm sorry. I made such a scene. This is not the way you should have got your first impression of me." He did, truly, feel guilty. The boy coughed dryly into his elbow, glancing around the eyesore of a room. He hated hospital beds. They had become all too normal to him.
The doctor rushed in. He informed Blue that Rose was here and his mother was on the way. Blue had smiled at the concept of Rose coming- but was not looking forward to seeing his mother. He was entirely afraid of her response. She was an emotional, theatrical individual. She hadn't always been very calm either. He frowned a little. However, as Rose walked in, his face lit up. He was so happy to have his two best friends sitting in the room with him.
He didn't feel as alone as he had those previous days. He wanted to get up and show both of them his love for both of them. Rose was a darling, indeed. So selfless and laid back. However, Liam and he had a bond he just couldn't explain. Just like how he felt in the locker room- he couldn't explain it. In fact, it was quite a similar feeling. If Rose was like his sister, what did that make Liam?
The boy's pupils dilated, and he gently slipped his arms under the covers and in between his thighs. He had suddenly became very uncomfortable and hoped no one else in the room had noticed. Rose also asked him if he was okay, and he shot at her a similar response. Her face was pale- she was nervous. Her foot tapped and her arms were crossed. No. She was afraid. Blue had seen her like this multiple times, and he hated it. -
doh wow im dumb
Liam shook his head, signing more and more to his father. His parents had never exactly been the most talented in sign language, and the older man struggled to keep up. He decided to wait until his son was finished. It would help for him to form the sentences that he wished to say to the other boy. When his son dropped his hands, Liam's father looked to Blue.
"He said that it's totally fine and he's not mad at you for anything. He says that if you need anything, he's there for you and that what happened isn't your fault. He hopes you're okay." Paxton jumped from his place on Liam's lap, slinking his way to Blue. The canine went along, climbing up onto the boy. His tongue was hanging goofily out of his mouth, his cold, wet nose twitching. The animal touched the boy's stomach with his paws a few times, plopping down after a few moments.
His owner allowed for a wide grin to spread across his face as he had done so many times that day. He was mind of what the animal was aiming to do and found it to be a very endearing act. Even Paxton knew the severity of the situation, and being a service dog made him all the more prepared to handle it. -
s---e I forgot to respond to this
Blue nodded. He didn't have much to say. "So, how'd you like school today, despite the scene I made?" He asked Liam. He then turned to Rose. She smiled at him gently. "Thank you for being here." He told her.
"Wouldn't miss it for the world, Blue."
Blue was truly grateful to have such great friends. He was so lucky to have true friends that he could trust. Blue didn't have many friends, but they were true friends. He would lay down his life for them, and he could trust them to be there in their time of need. He believed trust was most important in any friendship, and by befriending those he could trust, he hadn't gone wrong. At least not so far.
Blue smiled a little, he even started to laugh. However, this sent him into a violent coughing fit, which only resulted in more laughing. "I'm sorry.. I just.. Love having you guys here.." His body threatened to start crying, but he resisted the urge.
Oh, and the love he felt for both of them. He was so grateful Liam was here, and his therapy dog was adorable. Blue was never granted a therapy dog, since none of his issues deemed worthy, and his depression never seemed so severe. Not to mention, they were incredibly expensive and his mother had no money. His father, however, did, but he never seemed to care much about his children or his ex wife. This made Blue sigh loudly. -
all good fammy o B)
Liam shrugged, using the universal symbol for 'it was okay', the little gesture in which the person wagged their hand. He rubbed underneath his eyes, realizing that he had no choice but to sign. He turned completely towards his father, who was on guard and ready for the fire of words. As Liam moved his hands and arms, his father spat,
"He said that school was okay. He liked most of his classes. He said thank you for helping him earlier in the morning. He also said that you scared him but that it's all totally okay." Liam gave the sign for 'thank you' to which his father replied with a rub to the stomach, their own family version of 'you're welcome'. They grinned at each other and Liam put his focus back on the boy in the hospital bed. Paxton had continued to knead the boy's with his paws, something he'd been trained to do for Liam.
Both father and son were surprised that he knew to do it for other individuals besides his designated owner. Liam, deciding that he could offer something as well, gave a reassuring pat to Blue's foot, his soft eyes blinking back tears of gratitude to whatever hands controlled the future. He was happy that Blue was alive, but he vowed to himself that he would dig the boy out of whatever hole he was stuck deep in. -
Gr8
Blue sighed, content with the situation. He couldn't help but want to be closer to Liam, though. He couldn't deny he was in strong need of affection, and wanted once more for his arms to be around him. He wanted to be next to the other boy, rather than him merely sitting on the side of his bed.
Damn these thoughts, what kind of drugs could induce these unexplainable feelings? Liam was a friend. That's all. That's all. Right? Of course that's all. He couldn't be more than that, they'd only known each other a day. No one catches feelings that quickly. Especially someone like Blue- someone who didn't experience love for anyone.
Blue sighed, knowing these were all lies. The peace was interrupted by these thoughts. And it was interrupted once more by a loud crying from somewhere down the hall. His eyes rolled immediately, recognizing the loud sobs that was his over dramatic mother that happened to name her kids after colors.
Yeah, parenting skills. The woman who entered the door wasn't in much of a better state than Blue, health wise. She was pale, overworked, and overly skinny. Her hair was exceptionally curly and tied into a single pony tail. Her blue eyes were filled with tears. 'My lord,' he thought, 'This is embarrassing.' And he looked to Liam with almost pleading eyes. -
yes see that is that crashing kinda love
Liam raised both eyebrows at the woman who came through the door, swallowing heavily, fearful that she might kick him out of the room. He'd experienced similar situations when he would hang with Marina. Her parents had always been so suspicious despite him always expressing the fact he was totally, completely gay. Regardless, they would vocalize the dangers of teen pregnancies and how they could ruin both a male and a female's young life. They would express the fact that doors should always remain open and that parental controls on the internet stayed on at all times.
He directed his mind and self back to the current situation. Liam assumed that the other boy's mother would want complete access to her son, but the desperate eyes that Blue had sent in his direction let him know otherwise. Instead of leaving the bed, he moved up a considerable amount, now aligned with the other boy's knees, as far as he could go without hitting the guard rails along the side. Paxton let out a tiny bark, heading up to Blue's face and giving him a single lick before heading back to his owner.
Liam gave the canine a pat to the head, letting him return to his usual place on his lap. He waved to Blue's mother with his trademark smile painting his face in the most adorable way possible. He was basically the same person he had been when he'd first come into contact with his new friend. He crossed his legs over each other from the knee down. This made him resemble his father more than he already did. His old man noticed this and gave a small chortle of recognition. -
They're soo cute
His mother was sobbing, and Rose also gave a kind wave. She knew exactly how embarrassed Blue felt. His mom had been through a lot, and he hated sharing his family state with other's. He liked to keep his family life seperate from the life he had at school.
"Why- why did you do this, Blue? Did you really want to leave me?" His mother begged.
"M-mother, I didn't mean to. I don't think.." He then realized no one in the room knew the full story. Blue felt as if he was making a terrible impression on Liam's father, being in the hospital for a drug overdose / potential suicidw.
"You might have to go into a mental institution! Or a rehab facility! Do you know how embarrassing that is?!"
Yes, yes I do. Hence why I'd enjoy it if you'd shut up and stop sharing the details my friends and Liam's dad aren't aware of. Blue's dark eyes dilated, making his eyes look as if they were midnight blue, like the color of the Marianna's trench. His eyes began to water, and he had to wipe tears away to keep from shattering completely.
Tear. Rip. Cut. Gouge. Break. Stomp. Shatter. His mom was breaking his heart- as if he didn't feel like s--- already. "W-where's Rouge and Jaune?" He asked, wondering if his siblings knew as much as his mom.
"At school. They'll be told soon not to take the bus, but to walk to the hospital." -
Yes yes yes x)
Liam and his father eyed each other from their spots, their faces contorting into ones of complete worry, something uncommon for his father. The sixteen year old put a single hand in the air, beginning to sign. His father, understanding the course of action right away, recited what he was saying as he did so. That was a great thing about the connection between his father and he, they always seemed to be one step ahead of the other.
"Hello, ma'am. I'm Liam. I didn't meet your son very long ago...but he is upset and I think that you saying all these things out loud if very stressful. I think giving him a quiet, loving environment would be best. I am Liam. Are you his mom? If so, hi! Pleasure to meet you!" Liam stared up at the women with his innocent eyes, the corners of his mouth curling up subtly. There was really no way a person could be angry with him. It was clear that he was standing up for his friend and that was that.
Paxton pawed at Liam's thigh, aware the he was unsure about what he'd said. Liam pet him in order to cool down whatever worries were racing through his head. Remaining level headed was key in this type of situation , he knew that. He waited for her to reply, completely prepared to defend any of either of their actions.
