Cyrus looked at Basil from the corner of his eye as he saw the lamb shake his head. The other sounded upset, and he was only just starting to pay attention. Irritation kicking in, he hissed, "I never said that I'd watch you take a bath. I only stated I'm not letting you outside. After your bath, however.. I will watch you like a wolf hunts its prey in the darkness. I'd assume you're rather eager to stay away from me with the sound of that attitude. It's not going to happen." With a sigh, he looked back down at Molly. "Alright, kid. I won't hurt him anymore today. Here," Cyrus grabbed a second key and gave it to her. "You can have the spare key for our room, and I'll let you check on him in the morning with this key. Perhaps, if your mother says you can, I'll.. Take you out to get candy or something with us."
"I do like candy," the pup said as she took the key. She looked at Cyrus, squinting at him, then nodded. "I'll ask my mommy. And you can be sure I'm going to come check on you both in the morning, mister!" Molly wiggled her finger at him, like a scolding mother, before smiling at Basil. "Sweet dreams, Basil!" She skipped away to join the rest of the pack as they took over the rest of the rooms that were theirs. -
"Of course I want to get away from you! You dug holes into my arm, mutt! Why in the world would I want to be anywhere near a monster like you? Some flea-ridden beast that has no control over himself. After my bath, I'll go where I want on my own. You aren't my mother. You have no control over me!" Basil moved to pull his arm free again, slipping his wrist out and rubbing it while glaring at the alpha. He thought Cyrus wouldn't be so bad to be around, but he was mistaken after the other tried to tear through his arm. With the wound on his mind, the lamb looked it over, wincing as it stung from the damage and possibly bacteria. "Filthy dog...Putting those disgusting, probably never been washed, claws in my arm.." The lamb prince watched his little friend, trying to hold back a giggle at how cute she was when she defended him. He broke a smile just for the pup. "Sweet dreams, Molly.. We'll get your..candy? Whatever that is, we'll get it tomorrow. Without Cyrus." Basil enunciated as he narrowed his own eyes at the older wolf. He meant it when he said he would go out without him, whether he liked it or not.
-
"You were begging for me to do it, little lamb. I don't tolerate insults about me that go that far. I shut up for you to sing your little song, it was your own dumb fault for insulting me if I responded to your bickering before I fully shut up. And I controlled myself quite well. If I hadn't, you'd be dead," Cyrus roared at him, his eyes full of anger. "I might not be able to control myself but you're lucky I didn't go further into the transformation. You're lucky I didn't tear you limb from limb like the animal in me wanted to. You're not leaving my side, little lamb. You aren't going anywhere. And if you try, I'll hunt you down." The alpha jabbed him in the chest, turning away after doing so. He was getting heated again- all he could do was remember what he had told Molly. As badly as he wanted to slap Basil and make him realize who was stronger, he wanted to keep his unspoken promise. Ignoring their conversation, Cyrus stormed to their room, jamming the key into the hole and shoving the door open when it was unlocked. He left the door open as he went to the bathroom and prepared a bath for the other. It occurred to him that there was still a wound on his own hand and that he didn't know how to clean it. Basil did. He paused what he was doing, staring into the water, before he shoved the thought aside. He didn't need Basil.
-
"Clearly you didn't shut your rancid mouth soon enough. You think you're so tough just because you're an alpha wolf picking on a lamb. Well, you're not. You're weak, and I'm surprised an older, stronger wolf hasn't pushed you aside. If they saw just how much of a child you are, they'd never listen to you. And you won't hunt anything. You're just some big-mouthed dog!" Basil grit his teeth, shaking a bit in annoyance. He hated being with Cyrus and, if he could, he'd kill the other to get away. The very thought of murder made him shake more, but he tried to tell himself it was to secure his safety, not for fun or to mindlessly eat. He also hated being called 'little' when the other honestly wasn't much bigger and stormed after him, shoving him with his good arm. "Shut up, you brainless pup! You aren't much bigger than so quit calling me little!" Basil made a small noise at the wound in his arm as he stressed it. He needed to calm down, but the sight of the wolf only made him more angry. The lamb watched the tub fill, waiting for the water to stop so he could kick Cyrus out of the bathroom. He'd completely forgotten about the punctures in the older's hand. Nor did he care anymore if he were to be reminded of them. "Just hurry up and get out. Then you're taking a bath, too." The lamb prince sneered at the other as he continued. "You're not sharing a bed with me when you smell the way you do. And again, I'll go whever I want. You have no way to stop me."
-
"If I weren't tough, I don't think I my pack and I would have survived for as long as we have. If I weren't tough, I wouldn't be alpha. I wasn't granted alpha status through birth. I took it. I took it.. By going into the pack and fighting him to his death. Wanna know what was the killing blow? I tore his throat out with my bare teeth." Cyrus bared his human teeth at him, though his carnivore fangs were sharp like his claws. He hated the tone Basil was giving him, the way he was acting like the alpha was nothing. It was almost surprising to him that they had only just been throwing light insults to each other. "They know I'm not an adult. They've seen how I act. My pack is my family. I was abandoned, left to fend for myself. I got strong alone but they made me even stronger by accepting me as their real alpha. I'm respected within my pack, because I'm the leader and I'm strong. Respect is something you seem to lack, little lamb--" he was cut off as he got shoved by the other. He didn't fall over, but he had felt some sort of force, and he laughed. It was like he was getting attacked by a lone pup. There was silence as the wolf finished his work and glanced down at him. "If you had a brain, you'd stop arguing and get yourself washed up." Without more words, Cyrus left the bathroom, leaving Basil to clean himself. He sat on the bed, looking down at his hands. He flexed them, rubbing the punctures where he had dug his nails in. He wondered how bad it hurt to be attacked by claws. Though, he knew the feeling all too well- the jaws of a large wolf weren't forgiving.
-
"Congratulations. I don't really care. You're still an annoying mutt. Maybe, one day, someone will do me a favor and rip your throat out. Maybe a she-wolf. That would be comical to see a 'big bad wolf' like you get torn apart by a smaller female." Basil didn't know if it was possible for a female to rule over wolves, but he recalled ancient stories of female rams ruling over his own people. Such a thing was practically nonexistant these days. Rams in general were rare, and unfortunately for Basil, he hadn't gotten the gene from his father. Though the first thought to go through his mind if he did have them was to run Cyrus through. He scoffed at the other's display, rolling his eyes. All compassion having flown out the window, the lamb didn't care much at all about the other's life story. "I really don't care. Just get the hell out of my way." Basil knew the wolf was leaving but pushed him on the way out to get him away from the bathroom faster. The lamb sighed as he slammed the door shut, locking the wolf out. He sighed and undressed, grabbing everything he needed to clean himself and his wound. The water burned at first, but it was better than getting infected from negligence.
-
Cyrus gritted his teeth as the other tried to make a fool out of him. He hadn't said anything just to be made fun of, but it looked as if Basil wasn't going to take him seriously despite what he had done to the other's arm. In fact, the other took the liberty of shoving him along out of the bathroom. His ears flattened, though he kept his mouth shut to keep himself from hurting their relationship further. As if he could consider what this was anything close to a relationship, however; all of the fighting was too much for even the alpha to handle. He hadn't expected to pick up a boy that would fight back this fiercely. "Pick up," he muttered to himself. "I sound like a teenage she-wolf.." The alpha groaned, rubbing his eyes as he leaned into the bed. It wasn't as comfortable as it looked, but it was better than sleeping on the forest floor. He wondered for a brief moment what conditions Basil had lived in.
-
Basil sighed as he leaned down into the water, taking in the strange new surroundings. He was glad Cyrus had shut his mouth and was at least not in the same room as him. He began to think about everything back home and how he'd left with nothing but the clothing on his back, which was upsetting because he'd always had the best attire, especially his pajamas. He didn't know how he'd stay warm in the winter with what he had now. The lamb felt a tear escape the corner of his eye as he began to think of his home, of how many poor lambs were harmed by the wolf pack. But still, he washed and cleaned up, soaking in the water until began to cool, then got out to dry himself. He finished treating and wrapping the wound on his arm and reddressed, slowly leaving the bathroom. If Cyrus had no intention to wash, then Basil would likely take to the floor out of protest. "Your turn."
-
By the time Basil had entered the room, Cyrus was daydreaming about living in a castle. He had gotten comfortable in his spot and was thinking about how comfortable it would be to be curled up in an expensive bed. He could see himself dozing under the covers, never coming out- and his pack would have their very own beds to themselves. When the lamb came in, he opened one eye, slowly sitting up. He knew the water would have to be run again, though he didn't mind too much. The wolf slid off of the bed and slipped into the bathroom to clean himself up.
While Cyrus was in the bath, the sound of the door unlocking could be heard, and two familiar little wolf ears were visible as the door opened. Molly was peeking into the room, her eyes shining. She slipped into the room holding a box when her eyes found Basil. A she-wolf was also at the door, though she was silent and watching Molly. "This is for you and Alpha Cy," she explained quickly. "Clothing. Also! I'll sneak in tomorrow so we can go shopping alone, okay? I asked to be the messenger pup so I could tell you the game plan!" -
Basil's tail swayed as he moved to look at the bed. A single bed. He had to share with the leader of a pack of wolves. Shuddering at the thought, the lamb sat down and instantly hated the way the way the bed felt. It wasn't very soft and it was as if some parts were sunk in. It was as if guests mated on this bed often. Basil cringed, hoping that wasn't the case. He perked up when he heard small knocking on the door and went to open it, but realized it was just his pup friend coming to check on him. He smiled and carefully took the box from her. "Thank you, Molly. I'm looking forward to it." Though he was confused about what she meant when she said 'messenger pup' and 'game plan', he knew he'd find out tomorrow while they were out and about. "It's getting late now. Young pups like you need their rest. I'll make sure to share this with Cyrus. Good night, Molly." Basil told her and pet her head again. He found it odd that wolves had ears on their heads, but all descendants were different, he supposed.
-
Molly put her hands on her hips, puffing out her cheeks. "But I haven't even started to tell you the came plan, Basil," she whined unhappily. "I'm going to come wake you up early so we can leave together, and I--" "Basil's right, sweetheart, little pups need to rest. Especially after searching for so long without stopping," the she-wolf at the door cut her off, beckoning for her daughter. "Come, Molly. He knows you're going to come see him." With a little wave, Molly and the other wolf left the room, leaving Basil to his own devices.
A few minutes later, Cyrus came out, his hair stuck down from the water and his look distant. He was wearing only his shirt now, though he had undergarments on. While folding his pants, he nodded to the box in Basil's hands, asking, "What's that?" -
"Tomorrow, Molly. Tell me everything in the morning. Good night." The lamb smiled, waving as they left then closed the door. He looked at the box, peeking around at its contents. Unaware that the alpha had left the washroom, Basil was startled at the sound of his voice, holding the box against his chest as he flinched. Embarrassed that Cyrus was so underdressed, the younger avoided looking down. Of course the wolf wore undergarments, but still Basil would've preferred shirtless Cyrus over pantsless. "Molly brought us some clothes to wear. I'm not sure what all is in there, but you can look if you want." The lamb assumed the wolf would take what he wanted regardless if he said the alpha could or not.
-
Inside of the box were a pair of pajamas fit for Basil, a few different colored shirts for the two of them, and jackets of the same kind- one was smaller than the other, once again likely meant for Basil. Cyrus walked over, setting his pants down on the table and peeking at it. "That's nice of the pack.. I think that they got some stuff for you, Basil," the wolf yawned and sat at the edge of the bed. "You can look through it first. Perhaps you can sprawl everything out to get a better look at everything." He rubbed his eyes, flicking his ears and sending the last drops of water flying off of his furry ears. The wolf was most vulnerable when he was tired, and because he hadn't gotten much sleep, his nocturnal self didn't seem to be present. He felt like any species that was more accustomed to the day at that moment.
-
"That's...very kind of them. They really didn't have to." Basil pursed his lips, glad to know he got to look through the box first. Though he was too tired to spread everything out, so he went for the pajamas right away. They didn't feel like his back home, but didn't refuse to wear them. He glanced at Cyrus to make sure he wasn't looking or paying attention then began to change. Despite the shirt being a little big, the lamb prince was more than happy to have something different to sleep in. He folded his clothing and set them aside like the wolf had before moving the box off the bed to sit down. "I'll look through the rest tomorrow. I'm sure you'd rather sleep than wait on me to refold clothes."
-
"Believe me, I didn't ask them for any. But it's not unusual for them to give gifts to guests. I'll help you find a satchel to put your clothes in tomorrow. Ah, I need to tell them thank you.." the wolf closed his eyes, sitting there with his hands leaning against the bed to keep up upright. He was thankful that they had gotten him a new change of clothes, and he thought it was sweet of them to get Basil something. It was their sign of allowing the lamb into their pack, the leader knew, and he smiled and opened his eyes. When he opened them, he realized Basil had already changed his outfit for the night. He chuckled, leaning forward and resting his arms on his knees. "You could have shifted through it right now, but I must thank you for the opportunity to sleep. I.. Like the right side, though it won't matter since I'll have enough space in this large bed. Do you care?"
