Molly pranced, gazing down at the floor as she stomped on it. It was made of bricks, and she liked the feel of it on her feet. Without looking up as she wiggled her toes, she said, "A store that sells shoes. I want my very own pair of shoes. And I need a new dress, so.. We can find a clothes store, maybe. I dunno where one would be, though. We should be able to tell if there's one with a sign that has some shirt or somethin'." She swung their arms, her tail seeming to wag in her happiness. "Where do you want to go, hmm?"
-
"A clothing store. Sounds like a good place to start." Basil hummed as he looked around the town a bit. There were people of all different kinds out and about, but it wasn't quite to the point of being busy or crowded. He liked it that way. "I'll go wherever you want to, but I do want to find something to eat while we're out. But first, let's go get you those shoes and try to find you a matching dress." The lamb looked at his own feet, wiggling his toes in his sandals. "I should probably get a pair for winter so my feet don't freeze."
-
Molly skipped beside him as they advanced, occasionally stopping to bounce instead of skip. She nodded to his comment, looking around herself. A lot of the people were bigger than her, so she had to stare up to see what everyone looked like. "You said you don't eat meat, right? Let's find a place to eat that maybe has.. Um.. Fruits. Do you eat fruits?" She looked at Basil, a puzzled look on her face. She wasn't sure what exactly lambs ate, or what Basil specifically ate. She did know that she liked fruits, though. A grin covered her little face when he mentioned shoes. "Hehe, we can get matching boots, then! Boots are good for cold weather, according to my mother."
-
Basil stopped with her to make sure she didn't fall over or trip or anything of the sort. Molly truly did remind him of the young lambs back home and he hoped the other pups would be just as friendly, but didn't expect anything. For all he knew, the little furballs would see him as a meal. "I like fruit. Apples and berries are the best. Maybe we can find a stand somewhere. Come on." The lamb gently tugged on her hand, wanting to get moving again, and laughed lightly at thought of matching boots. "I dunno if we'll get them to match perfectly, but we can try."
-
Molly smile happily when she realized her unsaid guess had been correct. Basil did like fruits, and she assumed that the same went for vegetables or perhaps grains. She decided she'd question more about his diet later. "You know, I'd rather like a snack now. I want an apple. Fruit stands are usually very easy to find. I'll keep my eye out to the right if you keep your eye out to the left!" The pup squeezed the lamb's hand, looking off to her right to examine what they were passing by. A few jewelry stands were out, pottery, fur. She giggled at Basil's comment about her idea. "Pfft. I'll bet you that we can find a matching pair. I can even ask them for us. I like the color brown, so maybe we can find brown matching boots."
-
Basil nodded lightly while he looked for a stand with fresh harvestables. He liked that Molly was so willing to eat non-meat products, especially since he was just waiting to see someone that descended from cattle, the most commonly eaten meat by predators. "If you see one fruit, we should be able to find the rest. And I don't think brown is a good color for me. Lighter colors go better with my skin and hair." The lamb reached up to feel his head, knowing that sooner or later he'd need a cut. As strange as it seemed to outsiders, when lambs cut their hair, they could the trimmings as material for clothing or blankets. He could probably make a small blanket for Molly in a few months.
-
Molly nodded, squinting her eyes at the rows of stands. She was determined to be the one to find the stand first, because she wanted to try new foods that Basil liked. "Do they? Then I'll get a lighter color too. We WILL get matching boots, no matter what they look like. Or, similar boots-- FOUND IT!" the pup suddenly screeched, bouncing up and down. She tugged on the lamb's hand, dragging him towards a fruit stand. Some of the passing people looked curiously at them, though they ignored them like they would any other person. The wolf's tail wagged as she looked at the many fruits in the stand. "Foooood," Molly cooed delightedly.
-
"Of course we will. Don't worry about that." Basil giggled as the pup excitedly pulled him towards the different fruit stands. He enjoyed how energetic and enthusiastic she was about food that wasn't meat. Of course, he knew she would need to eat meat for protein eventually, but until then he would share his diet with her. The lamb didn't mind the people as much as they didn't mind him, but he still didn't like feeling eyes on him. He felt extremely out of place but tried to focus on Molly. He grinned and pet her head as they approached the stands. "Careful or you might pull my arm off, Molly. Pulling me all over the place like this."
-
Molly looked up at him with a pout, shaking her head. "I won't be able to. I'm strong, but I'm not strong enough to dislocate your arm just yet. I wouldn't want to, anyway!" The little wolf released his hand for the first time that morning, reaching out to pick up an apple. She held it up to the stand keeper, asking him for the price. When she got her answer, she quickly pulled out the money and put it in her hand. Then, she looked up at Basil, smiling up at him. "Would you like one too? Let me know, so I can give him the money."
-
"Even so, I'm pretty frail and weak. You still could dislocate it, little one. And didn't you listen to me? I said I wanted some food and I like apples. So yes, I want one. Then we can look for some berries." He pat her head again, looking around for more stands and clothing stores. He couldn't shake the feeling that a pair of eyes still lingered on him as they moved along, and the lamb reached down to hold Molly's hand for security.
-
"Mmm, you never know, I can be pretty weak sometimes too. I'll try not to tug too much any more, though, alright? Oh.. I knew that," Molly lied, her blush making it obvious that she hadn't remembered at all. She grabbed another one, paying for the second apple and holding it out to him. "This one doesn't have berries, we'd have to keep looking for a stand with some of those." When the little wolf passed on the apple, she quickly took his hand again, not noticing that he had reached out to grasp hers. "What all was in the box I gave you last night? They never told me what it was, but I took it so I could see you before I went to bed."
-
"By the time you're my age, you'll be much stronger than me. But thank you. I'd like to keep all of my limbs in tact. Well, I guess we can go look for clothes first, then come back around for berries later." Basil took a bite out of his apple, wanting to get moving out of the forming crowds. He began to walk towards what he hoped was a clothing store, gently pulling Molly along while they ate. He was truthfully happy to have some food in his belly, not sure when he had eaten last. He hummed in thought, not remembering exactly what was in the box. "I know there was quite a bit of clothing, some of it matched like it was meant for both me and Cyrus. I'll have to look through it again."
-
"I can only hope.. My mommy's strong. She's not as strong as other wolves, but she's strong. Maybe I'll be at the same rate as her. Okie-dokie!" Molly smiled as Basil started to eat his apple, then went to take another bite of hers. For some reason, she felt uneasy among the crowd of people. She was conscious of them all being there, but in the pit of her stomach, she felt that someone bad was lurking with them. The little pup shook it off and looked up at the lamb. "Oh, really? Hehe, how nice of them! I bet Lucas got some of it while he was out with Cyrus. The alpha isn't known to be too nosy, y'know, so it does make sense that they'd send it to you after you got settled down--" the small wolf gasped as she felt a hand on her shoulder, and she whipped around to stare at who had touched her.
A much taller man was there, with long back hair swaying in the light breeze and eyes red as the jewels adorning his armor. He pulled his hand back when she whipped around, rubbing the back of his neck apologetically. "Sorry about that, little miss. I only meant to get your attention." -
"I'm sure you'll be very strong." Basil smiled at her and continued to walk with her to try to get out of the crowd. He knew she was uneasy about being in the mix of people as well, and wanted to escape them as much as the lamb did. "You think so? That's kind of them regardless." He went to keep moving but stopped when he heard a sound from the pup. "What's wrong, Molly?" He turned to look at what caused her to turn so suddenly and frowned. The man before them was big, a bit scarred, and scared the lamb more than he probably should. He put an arm around her shoulders to pull her to his side protectively. "Do you need something?"
-
"I hope I will be.." Molly squeeze his hand, trying to prove to herself that she was stronger than she was claiming to be. Her tail bristled lightly as her uneasiness got stronger, but she pretended that there was nothing there. "Not everyone in the pack is cruel, and it looks like only you can bring out the inner pup in Cyrus," the pup teased her alpha lightly, though the teasing stopped shortly. Her eyes took in the man's appearance, and her grip tightened further, unhappiness clear in her eyes.
The man pulled his hand down from his neck, nodding. "There's someone who I believe is in your pack who wants to see you, and I was asked to take you both to them," he offered a warm smile. "If you don't mind, I can lead you to them."
