"Jenni's my roommate. Isaac's my b-- ex boyfriend. I... I caught them in my dorm a few weeks ago, and we said we'd use this break to figure things out. I guess he already did. I mean, I guess I'm not surprised, I just thought he'd have the decency to wait." Elaine sighed. The relationship had been fairly important to her, as it was the longest she'd ever been in. She leaned against him in search of comfort.
-
He stiffened slightly when she leaned against him, but calmed down quickly as he still patted her head. "It will be...fine." he coughed, trying to figure out what to say. "You'll find someone...better?" He was slightly confused, but he felt like what he was saying was right in this situation. "Dorm...?"
-
"Of course I will. I knew this was going happen, I just didn't think it'd happen... now, when I'm out in the middle of nowhere with a guy who says he's 21 but acts like he's 200 and... a dorm is a space shared with someone who's pursuing the same university major as you are." He really was strange, but the fact that he was pretty clueless made things a little easier. Ultimately, she knew she was hurt more by the timing than the breakup itself. Now she really did feel alone.
-
He stopped petting her head for a moment and frowned. "I'm sorry that I'm not up with...technology these days." He stood up. "It seems you need to be alone." He heard her answer about what a dorm was and it caused him to sigh, thinking about the opportunities he missed since the deal he made. He finally got to the door and walked out.
-
Elaine sighed and flopped back on the bed, staring at the ceiling. She tossed her phone at her bag across the room, and fell asleep for half an hour or so. When she woke up, she realized that there was probably no point in moping around. Instead of rolling over and going back to sleep, she got up and grabbed her bag, going through it to find some clothes to change into.
-
While she was asleep, David had wandered through the halls again, a frown still on his gorgeous face. The girl was infuriating, but he didn't want to make her feel worse, since this break up seemed to bother her. Maybe he should keeps up with technology people have now, but he should check on his guest, see how she is doing. He walked slowly to her room and arrived shortly, knocking gently on the door.
-
She jumped as David knocked on the door, shirt partially pulled off. Tugging on her clean one, she walked over and opened the door. "Hey there," she said nonchalantly, dressed in a pair of jeans and a long sleeved shirt that complemented her body nicely. "Did you need anything?"
-
He blushed lightly and stared at her for a bit before clearing his throat. "I was...just making sure you were okay..?" He really did want to know if she was okay. He could still see the snow out side, giving him a slight idea on how to get her mind off things. "Would you...like to go outside?"
-
She'd been hoping for a distraction, and something like that sounded perfect. "Sure," she replied, a small smile spreading across her face. The fact that he seemed to care enough really did make a difference, especially since he seemed to have no idea what was going on. And she was definitely noticing the blushing. She couldn't wait to wear the other dress she'd packed; his reaction would be priceless.
-
He nodded lightly and started walking, knowing she'd follow him to the front doors. He grabbed only a thin jacket and opened the doors to a winter wonderland, snow was everywhere. He glanced back at her and blinked. "Will you...be okay in the cold?"
-
She pulled on her boots at the door, then reached for her coats. She put on the thinner and then the thicker one, knowing that she'd need it. Elaine shrugged and walked out the door behind him. "I think so. I've actually never been out in the snow like this, I grew up in California, in an area where it snowed maybe... once, in my lifetime. And it didn't stick. Thanks for your concern, though." She was a bit hesitant to walk out into the snow, though.
-
A small smile appeared on his face. "What...what is California like?" He'd never been out that way when he was younger, truth be told he had barely traveled at all in that case when he was younger. A small chuckle escaped from his mouth. "The snow will go away soon, but not as quickly to where you can leave."
-
"It's kind of weird to explain. It's hot, but it's home? I've got the freckles to prove how much sun I used to get." She eventually plunged into the snow, turning back once she was a few feet out. Jokingly, she replied, "Oh no, I'll be stuck with you up here. Hey, we should build a snowman."
-
He nodded, understanding that she couldn't explain her home, but he at least knew she lived somewhere other than the dorm he was informed about. He chuckled at her comment, a bit louder. "I'm not..that bad." He blinked lightly. "But...building snowmen is a kid activity."
-
"Maybe, but I've never had that sort of kid experience. So you have to help me fill that gap in my childhood. Unless you'd rather have a snowball fight." She reached into the snow and grabbed a handful, then loosely molded it into a ball and threw it at him, hitting his chest. Elaine grinned.
