"You just... you look like you're frozen in time. And maybe I'm crazy, but you act like it, too." Now that she was looking, the gouges were everywhere. What lived in these woods? She wasn't sure why she shouldn't be honest with him, but his tone made her feel that way.
-
He let go of her hand and sighed lightly, covering his face. He thought for a moment and was about to say simething, but something on the ground snapped near them. He frowned and glanced around quickly, seeming slightly panicked. "Elaine. We should go back now." He grabbed her hand against and started dashing back near the mansion.
-
She let him pull her, but was definitely confused and a little angry along the way. David would definitely respond to her theory later, but right now, he was consumed by whatever danger was nearby. Elaine didn't have time to see what it was, but figured it had to be pretty dangerous, based on how he was acting.
-
He swung the mansion door open and got her in quickly, which he soon followed after her. Slamming the doors, he turned around and has his back against the door, he looked slightly pale and exhausted. He stood up slowly after a minute and ran his fingers through his hair, like he was trying to calm down. "Safe..."
-
"What the hell was that?" she asked, going to peek out one of the windows. His reaction suggested that it'd followed them, and she knew they didn't want to be spotted. Her breathing was still heavy after the chase, and she looked at him in confused exhaustion.
-
He pulled her away from the window and near him as he closed the curtains. "Do not look outside." He looked down at her, his usually normal eyes looked yellow at the moment, before changing back quickly. "Go to your room. You'll be safer their at the moment." He let go of her and walked back to the doors.
-
Elaine shook her head. "I'm not going until you tell me what just happened." She gave him an expectant look, arms crossed as she waited. There was no way he'd act like this towards her and get away with it.
-
He growled animalisticly at her. "Are you always this infuriating?" He grabbed her by the waist and threw her onto his shoulder like she was nothing. He stayed silent as he walked to her room and tossed her in. "Stay in here no matter what you hear and keep the goddamn window closed." He slammed the door and a click of a lock mechanism was heard.
-
(Dude. Don't do that. You literally ruined everything)
She pounded on the door, shouting at him. He couldn't just... wait, he just did. After taking a moment to calm herself, she set about searching for something to pick the lock. There had to be something in her bag, and she could remember the lockpicking tutorial she'd run across on tumblr. At least, she thought she could. Then again, locks in this house might not be the same. -
(Sorry...)
He was already at the doors at the entrance when he heard a piercing screech. A slight frown formed quickly onto his face, he felt hesitant at the moment and sighed. They couldn't get in, so everything would be alright. He'd check outside later. He started to walk back to Elaine's room as he unlocked it, not really wanting to open it. -
(Sel...)
-
(Okay thanks for soaping with me for a bit Sel. It was fun.)
-
(Oops here I am beep boop)
She glared at him, bristling with anger, as he opened the door. "Why the hell did you do that?" she asked, eyeing him in a wary way, but also in one that suggested she was too furious to care. Her hands balled into fists as she waited for an answer. He wasn't going to lock her up again. -
He winced lightly seeing her fists, kinda like a dog being scolded. He bit his lip trying to think of what kinda lie he could tell her without telling the full truth of what was going on. "U-um...bear..?" He felt like slapping himself, that was a terrible ass answer. "Uh...I-I just wanted to keep you safe...?"
-
"Wow, yeah. That's really f---ing stupid." They both knew he was lying. If he wasn't going to tell her the truth, she wasn't going to give him the time to lie to her. She stormed out of the room, not bothering to be subtle at all when she shouldered him out of the way. She knew the house had a library of some sort, and intended to stay there until he gave her some real answers, or until the snow melted. She guessed that the latter would happen first.
