He whined lightly as she walked off to the library, knowing he'd have to tell her the truth or be screwed until the snow melted. He looked down and sulked off to his room, he was tired and would tell her probably in the morning. He made it to his wing of the mansion and glared at the statues as he walked past them and closed the doors behind him.
Why don't we have a fun scare hm?) -
(Sure, I guess so)
Elaine eventually found the library. It was a massive collection, which led her to believe she'd have no trouble finding something she'd enjoy. As she perused the shelves, one tome fell off and hit the dusty rug before. She picked it up and turned it over, discovery it was a resource guide on alchemy and sorcery. Her interest piqued, she set the volume on the table and sat down, flipping through it until she found something to read. -
David plopped down onto the edge of his bed and sighed lightly, rubbing his hand through his hair. He'd somehow have to tell her the truth, but how? All the new aged people found his story as something to tell around a fire, so would she believe him? He groaned and stood up, this decision was hard, she would probably tell people where he was so they would experiment with him or think he was crazy and leave even if the snow was still on the ground. He huffed lightly. "Stop acting like a scared child."
He stood up with the most determined look on his face that he could muster at the moment before he went off to try and find her, which was probably the library. Another screech could be heard outside, but he ignored it. He was focused on one thing right now. He got to the library door and opened it quietly, trying not to make a sound. He sniffed the air and glanced around. Good she was still there...he walked carefully and finally found her sitting at a table, reading. Then he walked up behind her and glanced over her shoulder at what she was reading, grabbing her shoulders. "What are you reading..?" -
She jumped, letting out a frightened squeak. Then she turned and glared up at him. "I don't want to talk to you, didn't I make that clear?" A much smaller book was sitting next to her on the table, and she had her hand poised above it. The page she had the large tome open to was about levitation, and so far, she'd had no luck. It only worsened her mood.
-
He backed up slightly and ran into a chair, wincing lightly. Soon he glared at her. "Fine, if you're going to be a little brat I won't tell you the truth." He straightened up and almost started to walk away when he finally noticed what she was reading, causing him to frown. "You shouldn't be reading those type of books, they are filled with dark secrets." He mumbled loud enough for her to hear.
-
"Wait, fine. Do you promise you'll tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?" Just as she started to show some emotion, the book flew up, slamming against her open palm. She gasped and pulled back her hand, watching as it fell back onto the table with a thud. Did she really do that on her own?
-
He blinked and frowned more, baring his teeth. "Fine. I'll tell you the truth." He said through his already ground together teeth. He pulled the chair from behind him and sat with the back facing him. Glancing at her, not really curious if the accursed book was messing with the girl or not, he took a deep breath. "I am David Conners, son of Lilith and Samuel Conners. I was born in 1823 and I'm practically immortal thanks to that book you had, but at a very terrible price."
-
Her breath caught. Her theory was right, then? He was really almost two centuries old? She couldn't believe it, it was--she couldn't believe it. And at first, she didn't. She gave him an unsatisfied look. "I asked for the truth, David. You can't be 192 years old."
-
He looked at her pleadingly. "Elaine, I'm telling you the truth, I've never told anyone that." He then looked down and sighed. "But it's fine if you don't believe me." As a nervous habit, he started messing with the cuffs in his suit wrist.
-
"Wait, can you prove it?" she asked. "I just... it's not super believable, really." Then again, neither were levitating books. She pushed the sorcerer's tome away and turned to look at him.
-
He looked at her and thought for a moment. "Let me take you somewhere." He took one of her hands and stood up as he walked along the book shelves and many gated off areas of the library. He stopped only minutes later to a small fire place, a large cloth was covering a painting in the center. He reached up slightly and tugged the cloth down, causing it to fall and reveal and oil painting from the eighteen hundreds. He was standing on the left of a man in his mid forties and a woman in her late thirties. He looked the same as he was in the painting.
-
(Nah man, we're asking you to turn into a giant wolf thing)
She followed him quietly, unsure of whether or not she could trust him. After a short walk through a part of the mansion she recognized-- his home was slowly growing more and more familiar-- he brought her to a large fireplace, over which was a massive painting, covered by a cloth. She scrutinized the painting once it was revealed, trying to decide whether or not to believe him. The painting looked exactly like the man standing next to her, but it could've been painted recently, or maybe one of his ancestors. "That's not you. It can't be. It has to be your great, great grandfather or something." -
(Huff. Fine~)
He sighed lightly and knew of one other thing that could probably make her believe. "Then close your eyes and don't open them until I say so." He backed away from her a bit and waited. The change was slow and agonizing, but sometimes he'd been able to not make a sound, he hoped this would be one of those days. Black hair sprouted on all his free skin that wasn't under the suit, but most of the cosmetic changes didn't hurt, it's when his whole body started to change was the worst part. His bones cracked and snapped back into places and he hunched over in pain, the suit ripped in multiple places and a tail sprouted out of his body. His face eventually changed too, only now David wasn't human, just maybe a humanoid dog thing. "Open them." His voice sounded gruffer. -
(Can we treat him like a giant puppy)
She shut her eyes and took a step back, not sure if she should be listening to him or not. There was the sound of... cracking. Something was definitely cracking. When she opened her eyes, it took everything for her not to scream in fear. He... There was a massive, black wolf... no, it was too big to be a wolf, in front of her. She swallowed her nerves and finally spoke, willing her voice not to tremble, break, or shoot up an octave. "Well... this was unexpected." -
(Yes, you can treat him like a puppy.)
He rolled his piercing yellow eyes at her and huffed. "Usually people run." He said lowly, still slightly able to talk in his state. "Now do you believe...?" He looked at her pleadingly, hoping she actually didn't think he was lying now. He moved around a bit, his torn suit sticking to him still on his fur. He then sat down and waited for her response.
