"Huh... so, do you ever want to come back to, well, society? I mean, it's different, but you could adjust." She ate slowly, watching him as she waited for his answer. She had to admit that it'd be funny to see his response to the world she lived in. Her classes would probably be enough to throw him over the edge.
-
He stopped for a moment and looked up at her. "I can't leave this place..." he sighed and grumbled a bit. "I can go out only so far and then I'm blocked off." He thought for a moment. "But...it would be nice to see the world again and see how it has changed."

Sel~)

"Any idea why?" she asked, setting down her sandwich. She glanced out the window as the snow started to fall again, wondering if it'd ever stop. "I could tell you about it, if you wanted. I mean, it's nowhere near the real thing, but it's better than just wondering, right?"
-
He tried to think of a way to tell her it was his fault that he is this way, but he finally thought it through. "That book you were messing with is the cause of this, well...I made a deal with something that came out of that book." He glanced at her. "I'd like to listen to it."
-
"And that's why you're like this? No offense, David, but that's really dumb," she said, expertly hiding the fact that she planned on returning to read more of the book. Elaine took another bite as she tried to decide where to start. She had no idea. "Ask me questions about it; I'll try to answer them."
-
He bit his lip and shrugged. "It's more complicated than that. Also it's really hard to explain." He thought for a moment, trying to think of things that might of changed while he was gone. "Has the model t evolved? Like does the automobile look different now?"
-
She didn't press on the subject, because she was a little surprised at his question. It was hard to believe that this man, who hardly looked older than she did, was that old. Now associating him with his real age, which seemed like an eternity, she nodded. "Yeah, definitely. I don't know a lot about cars, so I can't give you any specifics, but there's a world of difference now. Smoother ride, much faster, way quieter... oh, and a lot of people like electric cars now. Off topic, but did you know that there's an entire subculture dedicated to romanticizing your era? Mixed in with a ton of sci-go, of course. "

*FI. AGHHHH
-
He blinked slowly, trying to take in most of her information that he was given, although he was slightly proud that at least it was good that the automobile changed drastically. Then again he was slightly creeped out that someone or actually many people were obsessed with being in this thing called a subculture. "That's fantastic! I wish I could see them, since how you describe them makes me want to." He then tried to think of something else. "How tall are buildings now?"
-
"Uh... honestly, it depends. The tallest one in the world is about 154 floors, I think? But that doesn't mean that all buildings are super tall. Then again, apartments are built way more often than houses, now..." She shrugged. It would probably be a lot easier to answer him if she'd been around to compare. Or if she'd paid attention in history classes. After taking the last bite of her sandwich and chewing thoughtfully, she said, "Really, you missed out on a lot. You were born in the 19th century, right? And you haven't seen the world since then? You wouldn't recognize it."
-
He blinked and tried to think back to the last time he actually saw the outside world, but then again it was a brief glance at it. "I saw the world outside this place once really, it was on the border of where I'm able to go out at. Everything was...different, then again I was looking at it as a dog thing and...got chased back up the mountain." He then thought about his last thing he wanted to ask. "How many wars has their been..?"
-
"How long ago do you think that was?" she asked, her neutral expression quickly turning sad. Of course he had to ask about that; they couldn't just focus on how well things had gone, they had to discuss what had gone wrong, too. "In just America or everywhere? There've been two world wars in the past hundred years or so, and plenty of others. Pretty sad, really."
-
He looked down and sighed. "I was suppose to go into a war, I don't remember what one it was, but I dodged it...somehow." he shrugged. "It seems the world has never really changed, even when I'm not in it." He glanced out the window and noticed the snow was coming down harder. "Doesn't seem like you'll be leaving for a while."
-
(plot twist: david uses fear tactics on people in the next town over so that they continue to bring him supplies {"you will bring me x and y and z, mortals, or i will destroy your town!!"} and the delivery boy shows up and elaine answers the door in her pjs or something and he freaks out because "how are you still alive?? he didn't murder you?? are you safe here? i can help you escape!" and she's like "david i have some concerns")
Elaine sighed. "Humans are humans, I guess. There are some things we just... do. Kind of disappointing that one of them is attacking one another brutally but..." she trailed off, glancing back out the window. "You mentioned that someone regularly brings you supplies. Do you think they'll be able to get through the snow?"
