As soon as she go off deck he called a crew member. "James!" The man was instantly in front of Philip. "Crefully follow Janette. I don't want anything to happen to her. I pretty sure she's seen you less out of all my men." He nodded, and hopped of the side of the deck, on to the dock.
-
After taking care of all of that, Janette headed into the building that had a plaque advertising medical services. After having a short conversation with the doctor, and slipping a few extra coins to him, she was lead to the back room, and made to explain what was going on. The man raised an eyebrow after just a few sentences, and cut her off by pressing his stethoscope to her stomach. After listening for a few seconds, he pulled back, and said, matter-o-factly, "You're pregnant, ma'am."
-
James narrowed his eyes as she entered a clinic like place. He then turned around, and jogged back to the ship, his sheathed sword hitting his leg with each stride. "Captain," He said, out of breath. "She's gone to a clinic. I'm not sure what for, though." Philip nodded and dismissed James.
-
When Janette left the clinic, she was completely calm. But, it was the kind of calm in which was very, very dangerous. She carried her bags onto the ship, refusing help from anyone, tossing them into the cabin, and heading off to find Philip.
-
-
Philip sat in the eating area of the kitchen, talking about which village they should visit next. "I'm telling you, Allendia is middle class, but they got some good stuff." Said a crew mate. Philip nodded, elbows on table. "Okay, okay. Is it very far?" The man shook his head. "It's only a few villages over."
-
Janette hardly cared about the fact that there were other men with him, and simply grabbed his arm, spinning him around to face her. She contemplated slapping him, she really wanted to. But, that probably wasn't the best approach. So, instead, trying to keep her voice level, "Philip. I'm.. I'm pregnant. With your child. And the doctor wont get rid of it, unless you come sign some papers. Please, it'll only take a minute or two, and we'll still be able to leave on time. It's a simple operation."
-
Emotions swirled within him. He didn't really know how he felt; happy, confused, exited, unsure? Though, he kept a straight face, and pulled her aside where the men for sure wouldn't hear them. "That's great... But papers for what?"
-
She shook her hair, allowing a look of sheer dismay to take over. "No, it's not. And, to get it removed. He said I had to have the child's father sign legal papers, so that he wouldn't get into any trouble. I told him that it didn't matter, but he doesn't care. He wont do it without them. Please, Philip?"
-
-
He looked down at her, brows furrowed. "I suppose I'll go with you... But why don't you want this child? It's not like we couldn't take care of it." He kept his hand lightly resting on her arm.
-
"I am not giving birth to the child of a pirate," She hissed, shaking her head. "And not on a pirate ship, of all places." Before she could catch herself, she continued, "And, anyways, we're not even married. Do you know how wrong that is? When I go home, I'll be shunned. No one would want me as their wife."
-
Philip closed his eyes for a moment, taking a frustrated breath. "Let's just get the papers signed then." He grabbed her arm, and started pulling her to the dock. He didn't mind have a child, he even wanted one for a few years, but never found the right lady. He had now, but she didn't want it.
-
Janette paused, stopping, her eyes locked on the ground. Softly, she made yet another offer, "If I do.. If I give birth to your child, will you let me go home?"
-
He sighed, looking at her, hoping that she would meet his gaze. He honestly didn't know what to say. Philip wanted the best for her, after spending those last few weeks with Janette, but he also wanted that child. "I," He paused, considering his final answer. But why did she want to go home? "... You know I want the best for you, I want- no, need you to be happy. So, I'll say yes."
