Had Janette not enjoyed studying medical science, she wouldn't have known what the clicking was. Echolocation. Like bats. She had heard about it, but never met anyone who had used it. Had this been a different situation, she would have drowned the man in questions. Instead, all she said was, "I'm not Philip, you know. I'm his.. I'm his girlfriend," She wasn't sure that she was, but she wasn't his wife, not yet, but he had said that he loved her. "And I don't know who you are, and I don't know what you want, but I really need to get back up on deck, because he's probably worrying, and, see, if I don't prove that I can take care of myself, he'll never let me do anything at all, so.. If you could just.. Let me go? That would be nice."
-
Though the man wasn't blind, he did have pretty bad eyesight. He burst out laughing at the girl's response. "Philip!?" He doubled over laughing, soon gasping for breath. "One day he'll get rid of you and act as if nothing ever happened. Just like the rest of 'em!" What she had said was truly amusing to the ear. "I bet he's already made love with you, am I right? He does it with everyone."
-
"Oh, I'm sure he does," She said, trying to hide the quiver in her voice, but, truthfully, she was a bit hurt to hear this from someone else. "He's a pirate after all. But see, it's different with me. I'm carrying his child, so there." She continued to slide along the wall, heading for where the door should have been.
-
(Gtg for the night)
"I see he's moved on from his old ways. Matured, I see." He rubbed the stubble on his chin. "I'll let you go under one condition." He offered, then clicked his tongue to make sure of her position. -
"And that condition is..?" He found the door, staying close to it, waiting for an answer from the man.
-
-
He smiled, even though she wouldn't see it. "You can't ever tell him you saw me, because if he finds out I've spoken to you, he'd want to track me down and kill me. Funny thing is, before he could get to me, I'd find you, then kill you." He pulled the hood on his cloak over his head where it would cover his face, and pulled out the key from his pocket.
-
Janette didn't answer him- She would tell Philip, when they were on their own ship, far away from here. Where she could remind him of the baby, and tell him that anything from his past wasn't important enough to risk their child for.
So, she nodded, and, after picking up the globe, darted out of the now unlocked door, and into the cabin, and then out onto the deck. -
The man, ran his finger over the hook connected to his arm- A trophy, but also a pained reminder of Philip.
Philip turned around to find Janette rushing towards him. "Janette, is something the matter?" Possible scenarios ran through his mind, worrying him more. -
"No. I- I just.. I was looking around, and.. I found this." She thrust the globe at him, sighing. "It's not as big or as nice as yours was, but.. It's a globe."
-
Philip's features softened as he held the globe. "Oh, Janette, you shouldn't have." Although, he'd secretly been in need of one for a while, and was thankful.
-
She shrugged as a blush overtook her face, and she stood on her toes, kissing his cheek. "Let's get back on the ship, then? There's not much here, anyways. Looks like it's been drifting for days. And, regardless, we still have some big news to tell the crew."
-
He nodded, smiling. "I'm calling it off men!" He called to the crew. They shrugged and began climbing over the large board, talking about the day's finds. "I think you should know," He began, helping her over, "You look quite silly in my boots."
-
"They look fine," She huffed, moving her elbow back to bump his ribs gently- A thing she shouldn't have done, not on a place such as the plank. The movement caught her off balance, and she teetered sideways, and for a moment, stayed that way. And then she fell, the two stories of the ships down, into the dark water, that was pretty cold this time of year. For a moment, she didn't come back up, and when she did, it was briefly. There was a reason Janette had said she hated the ocean- She couldn't swim.

(Omg .o.)
Everything happened in slow motion. The slight touch at his side, Janette losing balance, the crew looking back, and gasping. In moments, Philip kicked off his boots, and dove into the freezing water, kicking against the slightly rough water. The two ships were now covering the sun, making it harder to locate her, but a dark figure stood out. Philip propelled his arms and legs in that direction.
