"Thank you, Philip." She closed her eyes, inhaling deeply, moving to kiss his cheek. "Let's not worry about it for now, then. Want to go tell the crew? I'm sure they'd like something to drink to." And, honestly, she would too. Though, not alcohol. Maybe apple cider. Or milk with cinnamon. And toast.
-
"Welcome." He said softly. "I'll tell them tonight. It'll probably be better since it's early." A light breeze came by, running through their hair. "Anyways, you need anything?"
-
Janette was about to say no, but she felt like it would be better to spend a bit of time with him. "Oh! Come look at my dresses. I think you'll like them. And.. And, after that, can we go to town and get some apple cider, please?"
-
He managed a smile, with sincere eyes. "Mmhmm. I bet they look lovely on you. And sure, we'll get some apple cider. But first, are the dresses in our room?"
-
"Yeah, there are. Come on, Philip." She had started walking, an arm hooked through his, pulling him along. When they reached the cabin, she went to where all four of the dresses were strewn on the bed, picking up the white one with a simple green over coat. "I got this one, and another long one, and two shorter ones, but I got leggings to go with the short ones. I suppose I'll have to let the waist out of at least two of them, for who I start showing, but I know how to sow, so it wont be a problem."
-
Philip nodded, contently. "Those are very nice." He caught a glance at her stomach that hardly seemed to be carrying a child.
-
She showed him the rest of the dresses, while continuing to talk about what they would need for the baby. "-And a crib. You know.. Maybe I'll stay with it for a bit. You know, just for a bit. To make sure you know what you're doing. I wonder if it's a boy or a girl.."
-
Philip smiled, and looked around the room. "We'd actually need a lot of things." He agreed. "I'm hoping for a boy, so he can carry on the family name, become a pirate, and be charming man." He joked.
-
She gave him a small smile, leaning forward to kiss his nose. As much as she wanted to go home, she had to admit, she liked Philip. "If he's a boy, we're going to have to have a good name- Oh! I know. You know the pirate from that fairy tale, Peter Pan? Captain Hook? His actual name was Killian. How does that sound?"
-
"I like it." He said wrapping his arms around her waist. Janette even smelled slightly different, still like lavender, but different. "Killian Carney." He mumbled in her hair. "Maybe Janette Carney." He said softly.
-
Janette giggled. "If it's a girl, we are not naming it after me. Maybe Rosemary?" She leaned against him, perfectly happy. Maybe she could do this.
-
Philip smiled. "I wasn't talking about if we had a girl... But Rosemary sounds nice." Shouts were now audible, as the crew got the ship ready to leave.
-
It took her over a full minute to process what he meant, and she pulled away, staring at him. "You.. I.. Oh. Are you serious? You.. Want to get married?"
-
He let her slip from his grasp. "I'm not completely sure since it's been a couple weeks, but maybe one day." The thought of him and a family seemed distant, but possible considering the road they were headed down.
-
"..I was engaged to a boy in my village, you know. We were supposed to get married next year. His mother and my father's were friends." She let her eyes drop to the floor, her hands clutching at her dress. "I don't think I would have been happy with him. He was nice, and funny and all that, but.. I would have had a very boring life. If I have to be honest, Philip? I think I'm glad that you kidnapped me."
