Lucas huffed irritably, the girls' screaming interfering with him listening to Marco. But he heard the last part, and his eyes widened. "Guns?" Lucas wasn't actually sure what to say for a moment. "Well...at least you're okay.."

Marco looked at Lucas, giving him a closed-lip smile. "Mhm," he hummed, deciding this hybrid, while sometimes energetic, also seemed nice. At that time, one of the girls had just finished gazing at one of the cats next door and shuffled to Marco and Lucas. She was dressed the same as the other two, in general. A flannel shirt, over a top that had some English writing that Marco couldn't read, jeans that had more holes than fabric and boots that looked much like his. Only, her boots were clean.
"Oh! Oh, guys! Look! This one's a fox!" She yelped, grinning and staring at him. -
Lucas shuffled back a little, his ears lowering the slightest bit at her yelling. Kids he adored, and most adults were nice, but teenagers he didn't like. Too loud, the girls were always stretching through the bars to tussle his hair, and the boys would reach through the poke him or torment him. He wondered if Marco was as uncomfortable as he was. Probably more so, since the girl's full attention was on him as her friends hurried over to stare.

Marco flushed bright red, unsure of how to deal with the attention. He glanced back over at Lucas, finding that he'd backed away. He decided this seemed like a logical thing to do, and scooted backwards himself. Once he looked back at the girl, he saw that she was whispering to her friends. She glanced around, checking for a witness, then quietly slid open the lock of the cage. While Marco was still registering his panic of potential kidnapping, she slipped inside of the enclosure, closing the door behind her.

Lucas stared at the girl in shock. Of course he'd heard customers joke about wanting to go into the cages and see the hybrids closer, but no one had ever actually done it. The girl's friends gasped and giggled, huddling around the cage, so that if anyone happened to glance over, they wouldn't see the girl. Lucas glanced between her and Marco, waiting to see what was going to happen.

Marco stared wide-eyed at her, and for a second, she just stared back. Then, she smiled, and squatted down, trying to get to his level. The hybrid was semi-okay with this, only leaning backwards a bit. The breaking point was when she reached out a little too quickly for his liking towards his head, and he spun around and rushed behind Lucas quick as a rocket. The girl only giggled, and inched closer. "Aw, c'mon, I just wanna give you a pet," she whispered.

Lucas frowned and stayed protectivley in front of Marco. "You're not supposed to be in here..." He said quietly. He really wasn't supposed to be talking to customers, but customers really weren't supposed to be climbing into cages, so he figured this was an exception.

The girl visibly swallowed, and stayed quiet for a moment, not having realized that hybrids could even talk. She pursed her lips, replying, "Well, I just wanted to pet him. And he wasn't close enough to the door..." She frowned, standing up and going back to the barred door. She didn't go through, but tapped one of her friends on the shoulder. She whispered to the other girl, "Did you know that they talk? Can you get that dog to follow you for, like, two seconds? I just want to pet the fox really quick, please."

The other girl nodded and smiled, reaching her fingers through the bars. "Come here doggy, come here," She cooed, trying to get his attention. Lucas, seeing the first girl go back towards the door, figured she was going to get out, and he cautiously moved a little closer the the second teen, who wiggled her fingers around, rubbing his ears.

Once the dog was back at the door, the girl looked over her shoulder to find the fox. He'd tried to follow the dog hybrid, but she'd managed to be a bit of a barrier between them. At last, she had her chance to pet an unusual sort of hybrid, she bent over, burying his hand in Marco's hair. The fox let this go on for no more than a second. Marco shook his head, wiggling away and darting around her. He found refuge by squeezing himself in front of Lucas and the bars, seperating him from the girl who'd been petting Lucas.

Lucas turned, his eyes widening when he saw the girl still there. "You really need to get out..." He said. Seeing the way Marco had nudged himself behind him again, Lucas figured the girl must've touched him or frightened him. He frowned. "Leave him alone. You can go pet the kittens again."

Marco breathed a soft sigh, relieved that he had Lucas. Usually, he felt this for his brother, when he'd get them out of a situation and then sit in front of the cave all night to make sure Marco got his sleep. But, at the same time, his brother had always had a short temper and if he found that Marco was still awake he'd make him go hunting. Lucas was much nicer, and he had to resist clinging to the comfort. The teenager, looked a little guilty, but she nodded, leaving the cage. She didn't even wait for her friends before going back to the kittens all the way on the other side of the shop.

The chattering girls followed after her, traveling together like a pack. Lucassighed and turned back to Marco, studying him closely. "Are you okay? Sorry, I didn't mean to get distracted, don't be scared, okay? She's gone now, and next time I'll protect you!" He piped with a little smile.

Marco's eyes flicked between the girls and Lucas, and once he was sure the girls didn't seem to be coming back, he shrugged it off and wandered to the back of the cage where he'd left the blanket. He curled up on it, facing Lucas so he could talk to him. "Are there are always people here?"

The dog hybrid paused to think for a moment. "Well, no one's here really early. And sometimes when it starts to get darker there aren't many people. Why do you ask?" He curled next to Marco, atop a large cushion that served as a bed for him.
