"Whatever. What you like to do, or who you used to be, or where you live when you aren't hunting down your brother... Anything, really." She shrugged.
-
"I like being among the nature..Being under the stars and away from civilization. I don't remember a lot about life before all this, just that I remember how excruciatingly painful it was when I went through the change." He paused and sighed a bit. "And..I don't have a place to call home..I don't stay anywhere for long."
-
She glanced at him sympathetically, then went back to watching the road. "I'm sorry. And I sort of understand how you feel about the first part. I don't usually get to see too many stars at night thanks to light pollution, but I really wish I could."
-
"Maybe I'll tell you about a few good places sometime. Getting to see the Milkyway in it's full glory is the most beautiful thing in existence. And the Northern lights."
-
"I'd like that," she replied. "I suppose you have more time to do that when you're immortal. Speaking of which, can you remember anything at all that was happening when you did change?"
-
"The bite, the 'venom' burns like touching an open flame. It lasts for so long, and you can feel yourself getting colder by the minute. Then the worst part is when all you want to do is feed, so you'll feel warm again, if even for a moment. But you have to control it.."
-
"I meant in the world. Like when you were born or when you were human." She cringed a little at the description.
-
He chuckled a bit at her response to what he told her. "It was during the industrial revolution, that much I know. But as I said, everything is foggy. I've out lived at least two or three lives, maybe more."
-
"Okay, so it's not like you've been around forever." There weren't many cars, which was fortunate. "That's cool."
-
"Still...I should've been long since dead." He sighed and looked out the window again.
-
"When we stop, I have a picture of your brother, if I didn't tell you already. My uncle doesn't trust modern technology, so everything he sends me is on paper."
-
"You did inform me of that. I would like to see, to confirm that it's him." He sneered with disgust. "What kind of sick person is he? Sending you pictures of my poor brother.."
-
"I... uh... long story." She kept her eyes trained on the road.
-
"We have a whole week at the least. Start talking." Zander glared over at the young woman a bit challengingly. "You mentioned that you had a blanket that I could cover with when the sun comes up...but won't you need it if you're going to sleep?"
-
"I have two, actually. I always keep one in the car and I put one in my suitcase. And... well, I was going to drive to university, since I'm supposed to be starting in a month or so, but my uncle and I have been sending each other letters over the past few months, and, uh..." Anna could feel his glare.
