"You've just thought of everything, haven't you?" He listened to her closely and intensified his glare once she paused. "Go on. And what?"

"And you know how I have no idea how to hunt or anything?" Her voice was slowly raising in pitch due to nervousness.

"Yeah, what about it?" He asked as he switched through the radio stations again, trying to adjust to the new sounds of music.

"My uncle invited me to stay with him for a week or two so I could learn to hunt." She swallowed, bracing herself for the vampire's reaction. "He said I wouldn't be able to take down something that hadn't been weakened, so he... he was holding your brother, uh, hostage... so I could kill him."

His jaw tightened and he balled his hands into fists, his knuckles popping from how forceful he was. "I'm going to rip out that son of a b----'s throat...Then I'll gladly let Kayle feed off him. Say a word about me, and I'll kill you, too. Help me, and we'll never touch you or anyone around you."

She shrunk away from him a little. "I shouldn't have told you... the only reason I was going to train was because I've felt like there was something missing my entire life. This... I think this is it. I doubt I would've been able to kill him, anyway."

"Even if you hadn't killed him, your disgusting uncle would. But I'm going to take him out first.." He then softened, not really wanting to frighten Anna. The undead male sighed softly. "My apologies. I'm just...I've never been so angry before. Look, I'm no hunter, but I can teach you a thing or two as well. In case he tries to go after you."

"Your brother or my uncle?" she asked. "And I know he would've. And I'm sorry about that."

"Kayle won't touch you. He's a good little brother. Always has been." His expression became sad and whimpered softly. "It hurt so much to change him...to watch him go through that..But he was a good newblood and listened to what I told him to do."

"Who changed you?" she asked quietly, relaxing a bit.

He shrugged his shoulders a bit. "I dunno. They were experienced though because they weren't trying to kill me. Whoever it was, I haven't seen them since they bit me."

"Oh." Anna was, in all honesty, starting to feel a little bad for Zander.

"It's no big deal..Just means I was chosen by that vampire. So I guess I'm special that way, but it's a truly lonely existence sometimes. Even more lonely without my brother."

"We, uh, we should probably stop soon," she murmured.

"You said you knew a place that we could stop at so the sun wasn't so bad."
