The vampire jolted and turned, hissing with bared teeth and ready to scratch at her throat. But he stopped himself when he saw Anna. "...Sorry.."
-
She hasn't had time to move, but sat in complete shock. "Are... uh... are you alright?" she murmured.
-
"..Yeah. Just a bad dream is all." He peered out from under the blanket, watching the sky slowly grow darker. "Just a few more minutes and I should be able to come out.
-
She frowned sympathetically. "Are you going to want to hunt?"
-
"I'll be alright." He looked up at her and smirked deviously. "I didn't think you cared about a cold dead monstrosity of a man. How so very sweet of you to think of me."
-
"Hey, I don't want you attacking me during the drive. Besides, I'm a little more empathetic for you now." She grinned, and sat up.
-
"I believe you mean sympathetic." He then carefully sat up with the blanket draped over himself and shrugged. "Anyway, I'm good. I can go a few more hours."
-
"Empathetic. My brother was taken away from me, I'm not letting someone take away yours. It's not in the same way, but I know what it feels like... afterward." She frowned.
-
"..Then perhaps you're a bit of both. Be glad that a disgusting monster like me didn't get to your brother and that his loss was more human..You would hurt much worse if he were killed by one of the creatures of this world."
-
She nodded. "You're right, but stop calling yourself disgusting."
-
"I take the life of other creatures to nurture my own existence. I am a gross thing. Even if you don't think so, everyone else does."
-
"Most humans do, too, and sometimes for fun. You're not gross. And if you keep saying you are I'm going to ditch you on the side of some road while the sun's out." Her expression was entirely serious.
-
He looked up at her and smiled. "You really are wicked and cruel. I respect a strong woman, but you're still a young lady. You've got a lot to learn. We both do.."
-
"Just saying, I'll always be young compared to you." She looked out the window. The first stars were appearing.
-
He came out from under the blanket, nodding lightly. "I'll always be centuries ahead of you."
